NeverTrumper Charlie Sykes To Quit His Wisconsin Talk Radio Show
Breitbart ^ | 10/6/16 | Neil Munro

Posted on 10/06/2016 7:30:11 PM PDT by pissant

A leading #NeverTrump radio host is pulling the plug on his Wisconsin show, citing age and retirement plans to explain his departure from the airwaves by end of the year. “This morning, I announced that I am stepping down from my daily radio show on WTMJ at the end of this year,” Charlie Sykes said on his website.

I know that lot of people will assume that my decision has something to do with this current campaign and the rise of Trumpism. But, the reality (as my friends and family know) is that I made this decision a long time ago. Twenty-three years is a long time to do a radio show and most hosts don’t get to go out on their own terms. So I’m lucky to have had that chance.

But he’s not quitting politics, or his opposition to Donald Trump.

It would also be fair to say that this campaign has made the decision easier. The conservative movement has been badly damaged; obviously the conservative media is broken as well. So this is a good time for step back, sit down for a while, and ask “What the hell just happened here?” … I plan to spend much of the next year working on a book about the crackup of the conservative movement. My working title is “How the Right Lost It's Mind"

The conservative movement has been damaged?? I’ll hold.off judgment till we see the election results.

I think that a major storyline of this election campaign, which nobody talks about, is voter dissatisfaction, especially among Republicans/conservatives.

A big untold story, in my opinion, is how we have seen a political outsider take on and defeat over a dozen mainstream politicians, and capture the presidential nomination of one of our two major political parties.

Caught Levin on the radio in the car as I was driving home tonight (we get him delayed here), and I left the station on. Sure enough, it wasn’t 2 minutes before he started in again. Had to turn him off. Trump is the nominee. We go from there. What is so hard about that? Why don’t we give the guy some moral support?

That’s why I’m glad Cruz has come to the right decision to support Trump. I think Levin will come around.

The National Review crowd (Lowry, French, Cooke, Goldberg, etc) would not be missed for a nanosecond if their upcoming NRO Cruise ship sinks to the bottom of the ocean.

I used to listen to him, but he’s so anti-Trump and pro Hillary. I’ve turned him off. Anpd he thinks he’s a Conservative?

It seems to me that the majority of Trump’s ideas are conservative...

Protect the borders
Deport illegals
Uphold the laws of the land
Lower taxes
Create jobs
Strengthen the military
Strengthen the economy
Get government out of schools
Decrease government regulations
Decrease government wasteful departments

“I have stopped listening to Michael Medved. What’s gotten into that guy?”

Nothing new, it’s just that you’ve had your eyes opened to Hanoi Mike, one-time aide to Red Ron Dellums. He’s been getting back in touch with his inner leftist.

Salem radio is the propaganda arm of the GOPe. He fits right in with that fake conservative outfit.

Medved has been a Cheap Labor Express propagandist for years. Back in 2006-2008, I was a frequent commenter on Townhall and would lambast him on his articles. I must have gotten under his skin because he started responding.
I took him apart over his contention that we had no choice but to abandon the rule of law and surrender the country to illegal aliens and their employers.

I am amazed you stayed with him this long. Allegedly conservative is right. He is not and neither is Salem or Townhall or Hewitt, they are all propagandists for The Cheap Labor Express.

Yeah, I haven’t listened for at least a year now, so maybe I’m being too optimistic. From another freeper’s comment above, sounds like he still has a boner for Hillary.

Levin came around a few weeks ago! He said he’s voting for Trump and made a strong case why. He endorsed Trump right before Cruz did. Levin is hard on Trump in a way I find distasteful, though.

I think that a major storyline of this election campaign, which nobody talks about, is voter dissatisfaction, especially among Republicans/conservatives.

Surprisingly enough I think that dissatisfaction is rampant in both parties anymore.

The other thing is that conservatives had opportunities and could never even get their man to win the nomination for the party. Obama should have been an easy opponent, especially in 2012. If the moderate Romney couldn't win, a dyed in the wool would have suffered an even greater loss. There are many Republican voters that only vote for the Republican because of economic issues. They are also the ones that cross over to the Democrat ticket if the social issues become threatened by conservative candidates.

Yet they keep thinking that conservatism is alive and well. Now somehow it is totally damaged by Trump. Trump in my opinion is more conservative than the last three Presidential candidates the Republicans put up. The only thing that got George W. Bush elected was Clinton fatigue by just enough people. Then he won reelection due to 911 and the ensuing wars.

Oh yeah, he grudgingly said he’ll vote for Trump and has spent the majority of his shows since trashing him.
He can GET OFF MY RADIO!

“That’s why I’m glad Cruz has come to the right decision to support Trump. I think Levin will come around.”

The local radio station was reporting today that Cruz has spent the last week working the phone banks for Trump. Me thinks he is running scared at the prospect of re-election in ‘18.
