Syndicated columnist Charles Krauthammer discussed with Megyn Kelly which candidate he thought won the debate.
"Unfortunately, the big loser was the moderator," he said.
Krauthammer said CBS News journalist Elaine Quijano "lost control very early" and allowed Tim Kaine and Mike Pence to talk over eachother.
"Toward the end you were getting really good exchanges...and she would say 'we have to go on to another subject'--to which I would say 'why?'," Krauthammer said, adding that the discussion itself was more important than "hitting all the points".

Krauthammer may be right, we didn't watch after the first four or five minutes.
Pence moved the needle to Trump - possibly only a small amount but it moved.
WRONG! People saw the Democrat VP candidate come unhinged last night. Not fit to assume the presidency when ILLary dies of Parkinson Disease within the year.
Almost everyone I talked to said they turned the debate off before it was half over. Kaine was too much to take. That was probably the precise result intended by the Communists who run the ‘Rat Party and the Media.
I disagree that it won’t move the needle. Anyone know what the viewership was? I’m guessing a lot higher than normal for a VP debate. They’re a heartbeat away from being commander-in-chief, which in HilLIARy’s case isn’t that many.
I think that it will move the needle to the GOP side. For as many people who have reservations of clinton or Trump, Pence really showed he is head and shoulders above Kaine. That may bring some move voters over to trump.
hillary and kaine: complete losers.
Charles has a knack for stating the obvious and sounding impressive in doing so. What a gig!
And yet, despite the MSM’s best efforts, word has gotten out that Kaine was brutally awful in last night’s debate, and Pence was patient (almost to a fault). Whatever momentum Trump had going into the debate got a slight nudge forward. In an election this close (or is it?), you take all the positive spin you can.
Everything I saw today pointed to Trump benefiting. Some even say significantly.
When even tingles Matthews can’t spin it, you KNOW it went over like a lead balloon for Hillary.
As far as the “not move the needle” goes, I’m not so sure. I can only offer this anecdotal evidence:
Mrs. henkster does not like Donald Trump. Like many women, it’s visceral and emotional; she does not like his personality. Not that she likes Clinton; she has no problem voting against Clinton. Yesterday afternoon, she didn’t think she could vote FOR Trump.
Last night, Kaine and Pence changed that. Today at lunch, she said Kaine was so bad and Pence did so well, she will vote Trump.
I’ve always liked Krauthammer’s commentary, but like 95% of the inside the beltway pundits, he missed the boat on the whole Trump movement. The problem with these guys is that they stick to the conventional wisdom because it is safe to do so. A classic example of their thinking was on election night of 2008, when he, Britt Hume and Michael Barone all sat around the table wondering if president-elect Obama would now “move to the center” and govern as a centrist. They are absolutely clueless.
I think with Hillary’s health issues, and the thought that Kaine would be a “heartbeat away”, I think it was more significant than the usual VP debate.
The biggest loser is Krauthammer.
Sick of that guy.
I am with you. I think the debate last night HAD to have an impact on some undecideds, and as you indicated, with HRC’s health not being too solid, even some of her supporters had to be thinking about what could play out...
WOW Congratulations!
The moderator, who not only lost control early on, never effectively regained it.
Mike Pence, on the other other hand, was never flustered or impolite throughout. But he did assert when it was necessary, even with the 70+ interruptions from Tim Kaine, this year’s nominee for “Clown of the year”.
Unlike many folks, I watched the whole thing doggedly, trying to find even one rational moment from Kaine.
Disagree with Krauthammer - Pence’s performance will solidify the Republican base for Trump, that will move the needle.
Krauthammer
He has been anti-Trump since day one.
Surprised me.
Hopefully it stirred some Christians to get out and vote against partial birth abortions.
