The IRS battle against holdout tea party groups is heating up again, after the tax agency promised it would begin processing their long-delayed applications, but sent a new round of prodding questions demanding still more information.
More jarringly, the IRS then publicly released one of the sets of questions it sent to the Texas Patriots Tea Party a move the groups lawyer says puts secret taxpayer return information, supposed to be protected, out in the public.
Tax experts say the IRS may be on safe legal ground, since the filing was made as part of a court case, and thats one of the few narrow exceptions to strict IRS privacy laws.

The only group that has won its case is True The Vote.
Sue the bastards
Let's go after the exemption of the League of Women's Voters and other left leaning groups. The IRS is now saying voter registration drives, educational workshops and speaking events are reasons for not allowing tax exempt status.
It is time to scrap the American taxation system. Nothing is impossible and a much more fair and balanced system can be achieved. I even believe government revenue could increase with a better system that doesn’t strangle the citizen and cripple business let alone not being used as a political tool.
Interesting. It is this kind of crap that has killed the credibility of the IRS, and it is also why NO ONE cares about Trump’s tax returns.
If Lois Lerner had been prosecuted, the case Hillary is trying to make against Trump MIGHT have traction.
But as it is, she looks impotent and rather stupid screaming about them, especially since they reflect he lost a billion of his money, and other documents show she lost SIX BILLION of the taxpayers’ money that evaporated when she was Secretary of State.....
I think the Tea Party movement is pretty much over.
“I think the Tea Party movement is pretty much over.”
The IRS is targeting all conservatives.
The best system is just to have the feds send a bill to the states, divided based on apportioned representatives. Let the states figure out how to collect the taxes and pay it. That way there is absolutely no contact between the feds and the taxpayers’ wallets.
Why not? TThey got away with it before.
Wow, guess Koskinen was really skeered by the House “Republicans”.
They probably apologized to him afterwards at the Lobbyist’s luncheon where they talked about how they were going to split up the taxpayer dollars.
That is the ONLY way a federal union "membership" tax should happen.
And the reality is that with Tariffs in place in the modern economy the real needs of a reduced size federal government could probably be met without a State apportioned tax.
Party Is OVER. !!?
I beg to differ,
We Are Deplorables now!
They got away with it so they break the law again.
The IRS has become a wholly-owned subsidiary of Clinton, Inc.
OMG!! the ENTIRE Govt. is CORRUPT and EVIL!!
Just the fact that MEDIA MATTERS is TAX EXEMPT is enough to IMPEACH KOSKINEN!!!
These IRS head bureaucrats have to go home at night.
Just sayin.
