Poverty is down, median income is up and health coverage expanded last year. These gains are felt across all racial, ethnic, gender and age groups in the U.S. The gender pay gap, income inequality, unemployment rates all decreasing. Both the poor and those with middle incomes saw economic gains in 2015, according to new U.S. Census data. And the economy even added more than 2.6 million jobs last year.
Sounds like cause for celebration, doesn't it? But don't break out the bubbly just yet. Although these figures are heartening, especially after so many years of increasing hardship in the wake of the 2008 financial collapse, the news appears much better than it really is.

A real census was held in 2015?
Aren’t real censuses held every ten years.
Wasn’t the last one real census held in 2010?
Did anyone participate in an official census last year?
I haven’t picked up this magazine in maybe decades, but seriously, I had no idea it had become such a lib journo.
I swear, this article could have passed for a release from the SPLC.
Well, just color me surprised...
CA....
I used to work for the Census Bureau before many Freepers were born.
There were no population counts taken except every ten years.
However, the census bureau does collect crime and other statistics for other federal agencies.
Say what????? I don’t think so.
How can income be up and poverty be down when the economy hasn’t grown (see GDP for 2015) or when the work force participation rate hasn’t gone up?
So is this from a semi legit census?
Both the article and the link in the article have _no_ information on methodology or which government agency requested the survey—hard to tell what to make of it.
Good analogy. It was increased from 7 to 5 (forgot actual numbers). Very prophetic book just the timeline is wrong.
Remember Khrushchev stating that we would tear down our flag ourselves. We are getting close.
Thanks.
Good Freepers like you are the reason why I get 99.9999% of my news from Free Republic.
When we see something that makes us go uh, we can ask other Freepers what about the so called news.
Then, we get an excellent response like yours below:
“Both the article and the link in the article have _no_ information on methodology or which government agency requested the surveyhard to tell what to make of it.”
Thanks again.
Blacks are doing much worse under Obama than ever. Trump can run on this. whoo hoo!
