I don’t know why you think the public will react negatively to this. Some may, the uneducated, the hard left, perhaps. But I think far more will think “yes!” At least that’s what I’m sensing among various friends and acquaintances, many of whom are independent or undecided voters.
They should be made aware that they’re next, whether next is next year or thereafter, then.

The times set this up to be a positive reaction. Their readers were supposed to say he’s a crook by agreeing with them. Way too many people agree with things they do not understand without researching it because someone supposing to have knowledge said it was so. And like during the Bush years, they are blaming Trump for everything they can. If they throw it enough, some will stick. That’s just the way they work.

It doesn’t make any difference what it is, it is sent to lead people into false assumptions until they can get one to stick. And even if it doesn’t it will just be another negative to keep the people negative about Trump. Pavlov’s dogs. And the public is lazy, and doesn’t care if it is true of not until it bites them on the keyster. So, they assume it’s right.
