Donald J. Trump declared a $916 million loss on his 1995 income tax returns, a tax deduction so substantial it could have allowed him to legally avoid paying any federal income taxes for up to 18 years, records obtained by The New York Times show.
The 1995 tax records, never before disclosed, reveal the extraordinary tax benefits that Mr. Trump, the Republican presidential nominee, derived from the financial wreckage he left behind in the early 1990s through mismanagement of three Atlantic City casinos, his ill-fated foray into the airline business and his ill-timed purchase of the Plaza Hotel in Manhattan.
Tax experts hired by The Times to analyze Mr. Trumps 1995 records said tax rules that are especially advantageous to wealthy filers would have allowed Mr. Trump to use his $916 million loss to cancel out an equivalent amount of taxable income over an 18-year period.

Why isn’t Trump bringing these things up in a sustained way? Every time he opens his mouth, he should be bringing this up. Instead we get tweets about a Miss Universe. So sad.
These libtards are too stupid to realize this will help him.
Pile on, liberal media. Keep it up. Are you sure you found everything? I hear 1994 calling you...
Bwwwaaaa haaa haaaa! The libs on twitter are calling the WePizza people for take out and won’t get a wink of sleep tonight. Is this all they have? LOLOL!
John F’n Kerry chose the voluntary lowest Tax Rate on his MA State Tax Return.
Instead of choosing to pay at a Voluntary “fair share” 7% Tax Rate, he chose the lower 5% Tax Rate, thus lowering his effective Tax Rate by nearly 30%.
Then there was the little episode with his Yacht running away and hiding out in Rhode Island.
Why aren't there ads about this. No one knows how really awful she is.
indeed...
commentary, commentary, commentary...
editorialism in the place of facts and news...
First, how do they obtain a confidential private tax return?
Second, so what? Some carry forward losses and credits are perfectly legal.
The IRS only allows you to take short term stock losses agains short term stock gains so it can take years to get your deductions for losses back. They sure as hell take all the profit taxes in the same year though.
This is much ado about virtually nothing but it is ill gotten information. NYT, cucking funts.
All the yellow press news that can be found.
The bottom line is the NYT KNOWINGLY received Stolen Property and chose to publish it.
Now, let’s compare this to the Planned Parenthood Baby Parts story. In CA they just made it specifically Illegal to Tape PP Breaking the Law. A new Law to protect Lawbreakers.
The Democrats should replace their Donkey Logo with a Banana.
Hillary “misplaced” $6,000,000,000 in Taxpayer Funds while she ran the State Department.
It would take a whole bunch of Donald Trump’s to pay that much in Taxes in the first place.
Return addresses are hardly official records of origin.
Well, Hillary’s son-in-law’s father “had some bad business experiences” and ended up in jail where he belonged.
Trump is still in business. There is a lesson in here for someone.
What it does is put him on defense again. Their game plan is to keep revealing things about Trump one after the other, whether there’s any THERE there or not, so as to keep him on defense and take him off his game. Also if there are any undecideds out there, it will keep them from going to the Trump camp and defeating the Witch.
The left are in a state of glee right now.
It was a satire piece.
The article was satire.
Wow! Email that to the Trump campaign. They can use that to illustrate that the Clintons use the tax laws to their advantage too. Hillary would look hypocritical attacking him on it.
He can’t let the media see his anger - especially when he does a rally. Tonight the reporters said he questioned her fidelity and made a comment about how she couldn’t make it to the car. Those comments are red meat for the media and don’t help him at all. In his anger at the media, he gives them more fuel. The times he is angry he should stick to his prepared remarks and only deviate to discuss policy. We’re too close to the election for a gaffe. It takes too long to recover.
We have new fallout from the Machado thing which may be factored into upcoming polls. He easily could have defended himself by linking to CNN’s article and video from 1997 or rather commenting that she was accused of driving the get away car from an attempted murder and threatening to kill a judge. Instead he tweeted about the sex tape in the middle of the night. It’s a criticism that’s valid because Hillary never bothered to research this person, but let the surrogates handle it.
They are trying to bait him, make him angry, and in turn make him say things that they can use for soundbites. He’s got to stay focused and should have his staff check his Tweets before they go live.
There is so much he can use about her. She’s been barraging us with negative ads all summer. There is so much he can use. I’m very disappointed he isn’t hitting her with negative ads.
Why wouldn’t the IRS have a copy of this tax return?
