Since the Veteran's Affairs scandal broke in 2014, exposing the hospital system and government employees left thousands of veterans on long waiting lists leading to death, the agency has received an increase in spending to deal with the backlog and wait times.
Things have gotten worse, not better. Wait times have doubled and now, a horrifying report out of Illinois shows bodies of deceased veterans were left in the hospital morgue for months.

The whistleblower, whose identity is not being revealed for fear of retaliation, complained last month to the VAs inspector general about the Edward Hines Jr. VA Hospitals handling of veterans remains in cases where families have not come forward to claim the body. The complaint singled out Christopher Wirtjes, chief of Patient Administrative Services"
My Note just now to Speaker Ryan:
Paul you and your Members are worthless pieces of crap! For you to even pretend to be a leader offends most of us here in America. You are a diddler, who must spend most of your time playing with yourself, because you have zero results to show this country. That the VA continues to abuse our Veterans should be cause to impeach the lot of you. We could replace The Congress with Skid Row Bums and likely get better results. You are WORTHLESS!
I would expect them to have a protocol for this. They either don’t or aren’t following it. The VA is a mess
Fundamental transformation:
Another good way to discourage recruitment no?
This very sad case is yet another problem for Trump to correct.
We are so screwed if Hitlery gets in, I really believe she will make obama actually look like a good President. I mean, obama is making Carter look good.
Does the VA purposefully hire people who hate the military and hate Veterans? Why aren’t these idiots at all levels of responsibility fired? Personally, I’d bury them alive with the Veterans rotted corpses.
The VA bureaucrats are organized crime.
They are there to steal.
If no one claims the body, what are they to do?
Unfortunately they're no different than the other unclaimed bodies in the same morgues across this country.........
They would never do this with the bodies of illegal aliens. Where is the Mainstream Media on this?
“Does the VA purposefully hire people who hate the military and hate Veterans? “
I’d say the answer to your question is mostly “yes”. When I got out of the Army and got some counseling, it was from a retired lefty college professor that got a job as a shrink.
Now look at the medical staff. Why would a competent doctor, or nurse, want to work for them when they can do quite nice on the outside?
Now look at the federal system in general, they do not hire the best.
Then look at the attitudes that develop, laziness, not caring for anything but that retirement check that’s guaranteed in the future.
The media is full of worthless LIBs who hate Active Duty and Veterans.
Just as bad are the families that don’t claim the bodies!
The problem is not Paul Ryan, it is the union that represents the VA bureaucrats. They had two woman milk the system for moving allowance, they got over $200K to move from DC to Philadelphia. Grossly overpaid, the VA knew about it, but said there was no mechanism set up to recover the overpaid moving costs. The Phoenix VA is the worst, they had several administrators fired, but later overturned by the grievance board.
I would think so. One of my neighbors is a psychotherapist at the VA hospital and is hard left. He thinks all CEO’s should be executed. Probably tells his patients that they are guilty of war crimes.
Decades ago I worked at two VAs. Big part of the problem there (well, there are many) is the fed employee’s union. These people can not be fired. The worthless ones stay on. The good ones quit out of frustration after a few years. And the worthless pile up.
The first one kept getting new windows EVERY year!!! When I asked why? I was told it was in their budget. (Bringing on more staff and upgrading to computer system wasn’t!)
The second one. A patient was scheduled for a corneal transplant on a Thursday. The VA received the cornea to be transplanted the weekend before and promptly lost it. The vet, who luckily was a volunteer at the VA, was told by the docs that they were searching frantically for it but his best bet was to find it himself. The soldier made it his mission and had a successful surgery!
60 minutes did a hidden camera expose on that VA 25 years. Showed nurses delivering a tray of food to a patient who was quadriplegic, coming back later saying “Oh I see your not hungry.” and would take the tray away!! The other vets would have to feed this poor man.
And now it’s worse than that! Oh Lord. Pray for our vets.
If you can volunteer at a VA, DO IT!!!!!
“the union that represents the VA bureaucrats”
and their lower level employees!!! Bush tried to get the TSA people to be non-union. After working at VA, I knew exactly where he was coming from!!!
“The problem is not Paul Ryan, it is the union that represents the VA bureaucrats. “
I disagree! The Congress has been sitting on their collective a$$es and doing nothing to even attempt to take charge of these problems through legislation. Yes, they might fail, because of the RATs, but they DO NOT EVEN TRY! Everywhere you look, you find that the GOPe/RINOs are working overtime to line their own pockets and those of their financial benefactors, but virtually nothing else. A random selection of Congressmen and Senators from the population would be infinitely better qualified than this bucket of turds who are being let by a couple of complete a$$holes in Ryan and Scrotumneck.
This is Obamacare writ large.
A country cannot survive that doesn’t honor its military.
Yes, they are called Veterans. With Veterans Preference in hiring, about a third of VA employees are veterans. (30% in 2010, up to 34% by 2012, with an Obama administration goal of 40%).
Interesting statistic from Fiscal Year 2014. While all new hires had an 80.3% retention rate, veteran new hires had only a retention rate of 73.23%. So they are the least likely employees to stick around after training, further contributing to the problems at the VA.
An obvious cure for the VA would be to require hiring on merit, not veterans status.
