A mistake is an unintended action. This law was not a mistake. But it is a very bad idea. If a nation plays a part in commiting a terrorist act in this country then the remedy is war or something else done by our country against their country.
How long before the left claims England sponsors enviromental terrorism by supporting BP? How long will it take the leftist in the rest of the world to sue us? Who defines terrorism? Isreal will be the first country sued out of existence.
When conservatives ever learn that every government initiative will be used against us?
And why enrich more lawyers?
Lets see repubs Allow a giveaway of the internet but then help enrich trial lawyers and the left.
I agree with you. I'll take it one step further. If a foreign nation is found liable in a U.S. civil court in a terrorist act and the U.S. government did not deal with said nation as a military/diplomatic/economic adversary, then what does that say about the complicity of the U.S. government in the domestic act of terrorism?
This kind of bullsh!t legislation could only have been concocted by an association of ambulance-chasing trial lawyers.
Thank you. I’ve actually managed to p*ss off several friends today by saying exactly what you just said.
Conservatives don’t want to see it. We’re being played big time.
That is certainly something to consider. It’s suspicious when that many Dems vote for something patriotic.
I really appreciate what all of you are saying. But the fact is that the government did NOT do anything against the perpetrators.
See the 28 pages, or however many it was. It doesn’t mean that the US govt was complicit in the 9/11 act itself, but it was complicit in denying justice to the victims. If the executive branch refuses to provide for the common defence and promote the general welfare, what recourse do the injured have, if not the legislative branch?
If the legislative branch opens the door to private sector action, how is that a government initiative?
And as much as I find the work that lawyers do distasteful, as a very general statement, what is wrong with paying lawyers to obtain recompense from guilty parties?
