There once was a time when the “I” in FBI stood for “Investigation.”
“There once was a time when the I in FBI stood for Investigation. “
Today it stands for—are you sitting down?—”Integrity”.
Fidelity, Bravery and Integrity: their motto.
It’s something like Orwell’s MInistry of Love, or miniluv: “the really scary one, largely responsible for the practice and infliction of misery, fear, suffering and torture.”
But aptly named because it’s salient function was to instill love for the Inner Party.
All you need is love.
Only, instead of finding evidence to aid in prosecution, they now look for the evidence that needs to be covered up from prosecution.
They don't immunize to turn state's evidence, they immunize to protect the criminal from deposition.
They don't hurry up to close cases, they stall to keep cases open to prevent disclosing facts of "ongoing investigations."

Known as "Famous But Incompetent" around thousands of police agencies around the country.
And "Integrity." I guess that no longer matters either.
