Monday nights debate here was a tremendous victory for Donald Trump, but his performance left plenty of room for improvement.
Big picture: Polls show support for Hillary Clinton is collapsing, and she desperately needed to stanch the bleeding. She did nothing during the debate to change the trajectory of those increasingly bleak polls. SIGN UP FOR OUR NEWSLETTER
With states like Pennsylvania and Colorado in play this week, we could be talking about states like Michigan and Wisconsin in play next week. That would put the race away early for Mr. Trump.
Mrs. Clintons primary charge against Mr. Trump is that he lacks the temperament to be president. In an easy glide Monday night, Mr. Trump demonstrated otherwise.

Well, she picked up almost the entire room of CNN’s focus group of undecideds.
The last paragraph says it all. So many here wanted Trump to wail on Hillary last night, but he and his people knew he was introducing himself to millions of low-info voters who have been told by the media that he’s some kind of crazed misanthrope. He made sure to shatter that illusion last night, and I’m sure his campaign viewed that as Job One.
“Undecideds” = Democrat shills.
You can’t be naïve enough to believe those people aren’t hand-picked by the network.
Hillary-ous!
One manufactured controversy after another. And everyone sees through it except her base.
And, she has an ENORMOUS base. Nearly as large as her ass.
Her base is at least 45% of the electorate. And they will vote for her.
