It is called an analogy. If one thing is compared to another. It is common in logical arguments.

While this can be seen as a reasoned comment, I don't belive all comparisons are analogies. Bob is tall and Bill is not. I wouldn't consider that an analogy. LINK

This comment of yours left me scratching my head, because you said a number of things and I did as well. What exact comment by either of us brought this on? What is it's relevance?

I disagree with you own assessment of Trump.

Okay, lets take a look.

He is not the man you think he is (and this is where I sincerely pray that I am wrong).

Beyond whether you are right or wrong, does the issue you are addressing really mean that he would or would not make a good president? That's ultimately my criterea.

He cheated on his wife (others, too?).

We don't always know why men do this. Often times it's the man's fault. Sometimes it isn't. Sometimes it is both the husband and the wife's fault. Beyond that, of more importance to me is how he is generally livng his life now in the area of the infraction. With Bill Clinton we knew he was being unfaithful to his wife. He was also charged with violating women and being violent with them. Bill continues to this day to fool around on his wife. I don't think Trump has ever been acused of raping or abusing women. As far as I know, he isn't fooling around on his current wife. For this reason the issue fades in importance with me. Do I approve of him ever doing it? Generally no, but none of us knows exactly why he did it.. If he were doing it now, would I think him to be the sort of man we needed. Most likely not, but there again, why?. It could depend on why, and it could depend on who he as running against.

Loyalty and integrity do not matter to him.

If this is true, why are his employees loyal to him, even after being let go? Somewhere there is a massive disconnect with Trump. His employees don't complain when they work for him. They don't complain when they leave his employment. Somewhere along the line there is some integrity and loyalty going on isn't there. Loyalty and integrity are not one way streets. You have to give them to get them.

He makes personal attacks, e.g. “Little Marco Rubio”. Rubio was not even “my guy”. Personal attacks show a lack of intelligence.

In certain culture sub-sets, people talk about others in different ways than we are used to. Trump seems to use the New Jersey model. I'm not a big fan of it, but it doesn't rub me the wrong way enough to make a difference in my support.

When talking to and about other political figures, you have to be very careful how much 'station in life' you attribute to the other person. The most glaring example of what I am talking about, was McCain's comments about the dangers of Obama as president. It took McCain about thirty seconds to elevate Obama from a president wanna be, to a well respected infividual who was presidential. You simply cannot do this sort of thing and expect to win. McCain didn't.

Trump talked down against his oponents. What we learned after him doing it, was that in many cases, Trump's seeming insults were actually spot on observations. By addressing them the way he did, Trump did the exact opposite of what McCain had. He deflated their stature rather than inflating it. That is a very decent tactic to incorporate into your game plan, if you can pull it off. Jeb tried to return the favor, and wound up deflating himself further. It's noy something just anyone can get away with. Trump's own gavitas made it more acceptable when he did it. Most folks laughed. They didn't take it seriously. They did sort of agree with the comment as well.

As part of his game plan, Trump used this effectively and it helped him win the nomination.

The folks that take big offense to this tactic, are generally the ones who find a number of things they don't like about Trump. You fall into that camp. Those that don't find many faults with him, don't see it like you do.

BTW: You have to be very clever to do this effectively. Trump is no slouch when it comes to intelligence.

He said openly that he has never had to ask for forgiveness, which would make him the Messiah. Humility matters.

Trump's incorrect take on the need for introspection, realizing mistakes, and asking for forgiviness, does not make him the Messiah. He has never claimed to be the Messiah. Truth matters...

Yes, but whether I can or not, the absurdity is more your undeniable assessment that I can't, and thus the question. You folks have a hard time with reality.

That is a sophomoric judgement. A man doesn't only make mistakes with others. He makes them in his daily work, his miscalculations, and things he has to correct. You don't have to apologize for them, bu they are mistakes, and Trump has never said he was perfect. This is just childish.

And honestly, I do not want a consensus maker.

Ted Cruz is a man so toxic to relationships, that there was a meeting he was chairing and nobody showed up but him. These were members of his own party, if I remember correctly. Tell me how that plays out if he was president and needed a team to drive his agenda through Congress. Well, it wouldn't. Ted can't even get his own team on board his ideas. You must have consensus.

I think that is how we got where we are. Trump will bend on anything if he thinks in the end that his side wins. He has no moral grounding. He has said as much.
