Can they possibly reconcile their two statements for those of us who are not proficient in Lib logic?

So yes that is logically irreconcilable. But in their world where progressive ideology is their religion, these zealots will eagerly deprive you of your right to a particular job, while simultaneously proclaiming their tolerance and love of diversity and your right to express your beliefs.
