ON THE OCCASION OF THE FIRST DEBATE BETWEEN
PRESIDENT OF THE UNITED STATES
Donald John Trump
PRESIDENT OF THE UNITED STATES
HOFSTRA UNIVERSITY, HEMPSTEAD, NY
9 PM MONDAY SEPTEMBER 26, 2016
The 90 minute debate will be divided into six time segments of approximately 15 minutes each on major topics to be selected by the moderator and announced at least one week before the debate. The moderator will open each segment with a question, after which each candidate will have two minutes to respond. Candidates will then have an opportunity to respond to each other. The moderator will use the balance of the time in the segment for a deeper discussion of the topic.
I agree with Pence. Several of us who watched it thought Trump won, helped by the answers regarding crime. Hillary was too much into spitting out words. Her answer re crime was stupid. Then there was L. Holt who came across as biased.
One thing that I noticed is that his arguments were in the American people’s interests. She argued for a lot of things that would benefit other countries and special interests.
“Laura Ingraham is cool.”
Laura was at the 2005 FR convention in Vegas as a speaker. She’s been around fighting the good fight.
That’s odd. Kellyann retweeted Luntz showing Trump gaining Independents
I'm not so sure. Voters have very short memories and it's still early and there's another debate.
I don't think he looked as good as her initially and as he could have.
She looked good and was very well dressed and made up and coiffed, but was showing definite signs of being worn down by the end of that 90 minutes and she lost all that smarminess pretty quickly.
If Trump keeps doing what he's been doing on the campaign trail, I don't think this debate is going to hurt him much.
I agree with you. And I will say this— I wanted Trump to hit her on a few other points, but my husband was going to vote third party. I am not changing my vote from Trump, but my husband is now voting for Trump. This is big news in my house, and he obviously reached my husband, and perhaps people like him. If he reached those people, it’s a big win.
Volts aren’t jump started, are they?
Looks like they’ve changed it since Trump was winning.

-Trump will fight for all Americans, Hillary will see to it that Americans continue to fight each other.
-Trump has the right kind of experience to lead, Hillary has the wrong kind of experience.
-Trump has just begun to fight for America, Hillary has had 30 years of bad ideas and is failing apart.
Relax bro. You had the expect the bias.
Holt: Mr Trump, you are an ahole. Can you explain why you aren’t?
Holt: Ms. Clinton, the sun shines on your impending victory. Care to comment on that?
Dear sweet newbie, Guess you still believe the meme that Fox is conservative. Think you just outted yourself.
I’m trying to be honest and frank. Sadly, there are some here that only want unicorns and skittles. I need an adult conversation that admits that, yes, our candidate has flaws.
If we are just a “Trump can do no wrong, so lets celebrate every single thing he says and does” site, I have more useful, and less echochamberlike, places to be.
But I think this site is better than that.
If you want to have an adult conversation about what really happened tonight, I’m all ears. Fact is, Trump, sadly, did not do that well. And we REALLY need him to defeat Hillary. I have personal vested intersts in this. For starters, my MAIN issues are obamacare and global warming. I’ve not had health insurance since obamacare was foisted on us. I’ve been fighting Global Warming nonsense for over a decade. Those two government goals, if left unchecked, will destroy us as the nation we know, backed by the constitution.
Hillary is simply not acceptable in this or any other universe.
That being said, Trump missed a LOT of opportunities tonight. I mean, a LOT. Our only hope is that he is saving the juicy stuff for the next debates.
Agreed.
Obama lost the first debate in 2012 and as we saw in the end, it didn’t matter in the final result.
As the front-runner, Trump remains the front-runner. If Hillary couldn’t bring him down tonight, she would never be able to do it.
The election is over regardless of what the Debbie Downers on this thread say.
Where the bleeding hell were YOU, from the start of Trump throwing his hat into the ring? You sure weren't with ME, with him. You most assuredly were NOT on the Trump Rally Thread, with ME, from the start! You absolutely were NOT cheering him on and fighting the other posters who were supporting other candidates, as I was!
Go sit in a corner; kid.
I have hated the Clinton’s for over 25 years, but there is no way Trump did well. NBC had set up the entire event to help the PIAPS and attack Trump.
She had every line rehearsed and ready to go. The law suit in 1973, his comments on women etc .. all ready to go. Trump on the other hand was unprepared and didn’t have any pointed facts against her.
Hope Monday Night Football drew a lot of viewers.
I believe Trump won by a landslide-— polls will show him gaining in next week or two..
I agree. She came across as the epitome of a politician. Trump was expected to be unhinged yet he came across as gentlemanly. Trump with the edge over Hillary and Lester.

Well we can speculate this much; she won’t be worried going into another debate with him.
I’m really disappointed he didn’t have specific lines memorized to disable her “rationalizations.” That would have played much better than him breaking in on her time to basically say “NUH UH!”
Debate summary:
Slick, deceitful, clever, insidious politician and simple but sincere America loving business man fight to a draw. On with the campaign!
