Are you all on PCP also?

It’s too bad the scumbag got shot but you keep ignoring the cops when they believe you have a weapon and bad things will happen.

This is a good reason why you should not indulge in PCP.

If she thought the window was open (it doesn’t matter if it was or wasn’t - it only matter what she thought)and he was reaching that direction, after repeated attempts to get him to comply with no results, his blood is on his own head.

She was a tad premature. But I wouldn’t convict her.

How many people on this forum have been in a shoot / no shoot other than me? 0%? Much of the time in those situations people experience tunnel vision, loss of auditory sensation, target fixation, etc. Don’t go crapping on her cause she’s female, men make the same mistakes.

In general do I think small women should be allowed to be LEO’s? No- not unless they are fairly high level MMA. But that has nothing to do with this case.

A passive, unarmed guy, seen cooperating, with hands up, then hands on car, is tasered and falling, is shot in the chest.. dead.

No aggression in sight.

Why is there a bunch of nit searching going on. The aggression was on the cops.

Unnecessarily aggressive tasering and firing to kill, over squat.

Trump nailed it. She can plead down to accidental discharge, but she screwed up BADLY.

Isn’t first degree murder premeditated?

Cool.

If a crime happened in this case, then this is the proper way to deal with it.

If authorities have looked at available evidence and made a determination to file charges, then i support them and the charges.

We can’t have police killing people without cause.

“Well, she obviously thought he was trying to get something ON TOP OF NOT FREEZING WHEN ORDERED TO NOT TO MOVE.”
==
She’ll have to change her story about the window being closed. That’s a non-starter. If her lawyers are smart they’ll have her say she “thought” the window was open. That’s because if a person is untruthful at “Point A”, they won’t be believed on “Ponits B-Z”.
I expect some kind of plea bargain to come of this.

We'll have to wait for court testimony, but ...

What if the cop beside her shot the taser and the perp continued to move as if not tased ?

Split second decision time

Nope. She was a TCSO deputy for several years before joining TPD. I believe I counted 9 years total on both forces.

Exactly.

These guys nailed her and so did the cameras in the air and on the ground.

So did Trump.

In the generally understood “use of force” continuum it appears that at the moment of the use of deadly force the Subject was Actively Resistant, but that was all.

A taser is the most extreme option you may employ (or spray). Technically, you should approach from the rear and use alternate compliance techniques in order to move the Subject to the ground and place him in restraints.

This woman, instead, had her finger on her trigger and used deadly force at the moment that supporting officers were still attempting to use a proper level of force.

Not a good shoot in my opinion.

It may be proverbial “Scottish verdict” time. She skates, but never ever has a police job again.

This is exactly the thing I told my wife yesterday.

Let’s be really clear, though. If the man had complied with the officers he’d be alive today. But we’ll never know.

I think it’s the right call. She may or may not be guilty of a crime, but it looks like there’s enough evidence to warrant a process to find out.

But in this particular case, two different officers reacted in two different ways

Split second decisions made by different people, with limited information, will often be different. The fact that two people did two different things, in the same situation, does not mean that one is wrong and the other right. Split-second, limited information, life-and-death decisions are, unfortunately, going to lead to a wide range of potentially valid actions. This is why you don't f around when interacting with the police, unless you are an indescribably stupid, selfish and self-centered person.

All this does is highlight the stupidity (in this case, fatal stupidity) and utter selfishness of not cooperating with the police, in the first place. The fact that two people did two different things, in the same situation, does not mean that one is wrong and the other right.

Yep, she choked, Trump was correct. I do feel for her tho, but she is gonna have to pay a price for taking a life even if it was due to her panic.

Females don’t get adrenaline really.

Nerves took over maybe.

I haven’t watched the video yet, but being so close to election, I’m suspicious of this.

“I see this as a mistake by a young officer. Unless someone comes up with better explanation. She will run into the CJ system and be tossed into a meat grinder. In saner times, she would be show some mercy if her motivations are clean.”

That is the way I see it too and fits Trump’s description of “choking”. It is a bit difficult for a woman to be an officer put in that position and the need for police depts. to be “gender neutral” in their hiring practices is partially to blame in this case. No chance this is 1st degree but it is an awful price to pay for a female officer that made a grave mistake by killing that man.

“What if the cop beside her shot the taser and the perp continued to move as if not tased?”

Then you use YOUR taser, your OC, or you use traditional compliance techniques that were in effect for the past 10,000 years - before the other two existed.

I support the police. They have reviewed the available evidence and testimony from all those there and have determined that charges against her are valid.

She will now have her day in court.

As a side note, why did she go for a kill shot? Why not a shot in air first to see if his demeanor changes? Or a shot to the leg? It was obvious that none of the other officers thought he was that much of a threat.
