Deputy Homeland Security Secretary paints grim picture of Jewish communities' vulnerability to terrorism, says leaders not doing enough.

JTA - Painting a grim picture of Jewish vulnerability in the United States, a top U.S. security official said that the vast majority of funds earmarked to secure non-profits goes to Jewish institutions because their need is most acute.

Alejandro Mayorkas, the Deputy Homeland Security Secretary, speaking Wednesday to the Orthodox Union's annual leadership mission to Washington, said rising extremism in the United States and its threat to the Jewish community keeps him awake at night.

He said the threat had shifted in the last year from the relatively small number of Americans who were radicalized overseas, to homegrown extremists whom the Islamic State terrorist group had reached through the Internet. The FBI was tracking more than one thousand suspected extremists across the United States, and they were to be found in all 50 states, he said.

"They find great access to a radicalizing Islam" on the web, Mayorkas said of the homegrown extremists. "They find what they believe is purpose and meaning in their life."

I can attest to this . I lived in a Jewish neighborhood for a long time so I have a lot of Jewish friends (I’m not Jewish)

I personally have 2 very good friends who are doctors who spend more time doing volunteer work than they do working their paying jobs. They both vote democrat because they think it helps others too and don’t realize that helping others should be a personal thing that one does but government doesn’t help it just creates dependence which breeds nothing but trouble.

In France, Berlin, and Italy, I saw military-looking armed guards outside of Jewish schools and gathering places over the past 3 summers. Other parts of the world are taking the threats seriously. In the US, too many Jews associated with the Democratic Party and anti-gun legislation to allow for armed guards in visible locations.
