The last couple of months I’ve been going up on weekends and hiking 4000 footers in the Whites. Absolutely stunning place to hike through.
In August, some guy did all 48 of them in 6 days! As long as he didn’t leave any trash or lay a log in the middle of the trail, more power to him I say.
It doesn’t work that way. The AT is northward from Georgia to Maine. Anything else is bupkis!
Just watched a Walk in the Woods on Amazon. As an AT hiker, I didn't like the movie. For comedy, it's OK.
I have hiked from Ga up into Va. A divorce stopped yearly vacations where I did segments because it was more her goal to do the whole trail. I loved fall hikes although I did some spring segments too.
Other half continued on, she got Lyme Disease and it was really, really bad. If you trust the medical profession to figure something like that out, then you let them risk your life. But the bottom line, she is no longer my problem, she's somebody else's problem
Classic Bellucci SNL skit mocking Bruce, er ah, Caitlin Jenner’s Decathlon fame!
Little chocolate doughnut O’s ;n)
You need all that sugary energy on-call to WIN!
Robert Redford..........UGH
I think it was Adam Clayton Powell who drank Tang and Vodka. He called the drink Poon Tang.
I read you, but If someone is keeping score, expect some people to play to get the best score.
I read the book mentioned there, “Born To Run”, it’s a great topic, I’m no runner.
Sometimes I don’t even have to look to see who posted something. Very creative however.
I want to meet the hardy soul who starts in Georgia in November and does the hike northbound!
I’ve done a couple 50 mile backpack treks, in a week, not a day.
This past summer, we did a trifecta. A high ropes challenge course, 25 miles backpacking, 35 miles cycling, 10 miles paddling in four days (and 95 degree temps)
Very challenging, mainly due to the temps
“Who says junk food’s bad for you? Look what it did for this 48 year old guy!”
Not this nutrition professor!

Thanks for sharing. I’ve read the founders of the Appalachian Trail actually envisioned it just like that—with “feeder trails” leading to the AT from the major East Coast cities with places to stay and have a meal at regular intervals.
