The incident happened on Tuesday at Coronado Court in the town of Clifton in Mesa County.

Police said they thought they were targeting a methamphetamine operation and instead forcefully entered a couple’s condo with five children inside.

Mesa County and Grand Junction SWAT members surrounded the condo and broke down the front door and destroyed windows as they breached the house.

Those who can’t understand popular rage against cops would do well to follow this case and observe the complete lack of consequences for this reckless home invasion.

Warrants are supposed to be hand delivered to the occupants of the building PRIOR to entering the premises and conducting the search unless it is deemed no one is in the said premises. There is no "drugs on the premises" or "known terrorists inside the building" clauses in the Constitution that negate the protections of the 4th Amendment.

Thank you.

However I do not support masked raiders who kick down doors on no-knock warrants.

The "law & order" crowd should not be the same as the "Tyranny" crowd...

Thinking about this as I sit on my couch. If my front door was to burst open right now, I think I would draw and shoot at whoever decided to come through it, just saying.

“Here’s a crazy idea. Maybe they could check the online records of ownership for a property before they dispatch their SWAT troops.”

Here’s an even crazier idea! How about a stakeout just to try and validate the information they had? These no nock criminal breakins by the cops should be punished severely. The “war on drugs” needs to be stopped cold. I have never even smoked a joint, but all of this nonsense about “drug enforcement” should stop.

Yes, there was a lawsuit on that.

“Because knocking on the door and covering all the exits like the used to do would just be old school.”
I agree. Did you ever read about how the cop captured Lee Harvey Oswald in the theater? Now that is old school tough.

There have been a number of cases like this that had horrible outcome. Totally innocent people were killed for acting on flawed information.

Seldom do we actually here how the final outcome of those ends. Most take over 5 years to act on.

I have heard that the mass arrest in Waco Twin Peaks shootings will take 3-5 years to enter the discovery phase of the trials. (it’s already been over a year) It’s clear, has been from beginning, that the vast majority of those arrested and charged are totally innocent of any crimes. But they spent months in jail and it has ruined their lives.

This is not an example of what justice should look like in this fine nation.

I lived in Grand Junction for 15 years. Please don’t be too hard on these guys. What they did was really dumb, but it doesn’t represent their normal behavior. They are a pretty good small town force, and they’re stepping up to the plate for repairs beyond what any big city would do.

Can't go down to Home Depot and get another life. Putting folks in harms way is NEVER ok.

Oh, don't get me wrong. I am not picking on them. I've been to Grand Junction. Have a friend who did computer work for the local Police.

I know these guys are the good guys.

But this was an inexcusable mistake. It could have cost innocent lives on both sides. It is an example of a much bigger problem of attitude in some SWAT teams.

Excellent point. They really are not only dumbasses, but are dangerous dumbasses. It is way pat time to shut down all swat operations across the country. They serve no valid purpose in a free republic.

To receive compensation for the physical damage the residence incurred, the victims must file a claim(s) against the county and/or municipality from whence the police were dispatched. Said entities can challenge the validity of such claims and usually do.

I wasn’t sure there was a flashbang...so my bad. The apology and the repair work are miles ahead of the “traditional” way these mistakes are handled. I still hope there’s a massive follow-up check to ease any of the condo owner’s hard feelings.
