After last years annus horribilis that saw the currency shed more than 14 per cent of its value against the dollar, the peso is down an additional 10.5 per cent so far this year making it the worlds second worst performing major emerging market currency after the Argentine peso,

The Wall just got more expensive for Mexico.
I’m semi-retiring in Mexico. Six months here, six months Mexico. Very soon. I love Mexico! Sorry if that causes some of your heads to spin. And I’m voting for Trump!
We had MPC, Military Payment Certificate instead. MPC or “script” was in $.05, $.10, $.25, $1, $5, $10 etc...
As a kid, I could have a wallet full of pink, gold, green and orange MPC, adding up to $3 or $4 bucks...
That’s 8 cents per peso............
I think when it becomes clear that Trump is going to win, you will see cad and truck loads of Mexicans heading south for the border.
Either way, it’s not worth a plug nickel...............
Good luck south of the border.
There is no rule of law...
Philippine Peso UP a point !
EVERYTHING hinges on strong leaders and in THIS day and age it is testosterone over estrogen.
Sorry ladies, but it is what it is.
The irony is that the lower the peso, the cheaper Mexican imports are in the US and the more expensive US goods are in Mexico.
When I was a kid in the 60’s in Mississippi, My uncle who lived in California, came to visit and he brought me some Mexican Pesos. I asked how much they were worth and he said ‘about a nickel’ each................
Mexico will become very cooperative when Trump wins.
I don’t see this as good or funny news.
Most of the Mexican people are good people stuck in a bad system with horrible leadership (currently like us).
If anyone thinks this will not drive more Mexicans to come across our border to make US dollars please explain.
Yeah yeah yeah I trust Trump to do his best if elected and wouldn’t doubt people who manipulate currency values like Soros to be behind this.
My wife is a (legal) immigrant from Mexico so this is good news for us when we travel there but bad news for our family there. BTW, I doubt people here really appreciate how much Peña Nieto is despised by Mexicans. They can’t wait to be rid of him. Today being Mexican Independence Day it will be interesting to see how he is greeted when he makes the traditional grito de Dolores.
I think you're on to something. Maybe they should have called it the 'Pepe'.
It doesn't make my head spin...it just causes me to scratch my head. Why not semi retire to Afghanistan? It's safer, cheaper and the weather's better. And you won't develop any of those brain eating parasites that are so common south of the border.
Just sayin'...
We used to trade dollars for pesos on the ‘unofficial’ market in the early ‘70s. I don’t remember how many pesos per dollar we got, but it was many more than the official exchange rate.
You nailed it. Thx
I remember when the Italian Lira exchange rate was so big it required a special field to contain the value.
If it keeps falling, Trump will be able to build the wall out of melted pesos.
