Just hours after the Washington Post published an interview with Donald Trump in which he refused to acknowledge that President Barack Obama was born in the United States, the Trump campaign released a statement saying that the Republican presidential candidate "believes" Obama was born in the U.S.
"Having successfully obtained President Obama's birth certificate when others could not, Mr. Trump believes that President Obama was born in the United States," read the statement.
In the Washington Post interview, published on its website at 7:34 p.m., refused to say whether he believed that Obama was born in the U.S.
"I'll answer that question at the right time," Trump said. "I just don't want to answer it yet."
Despite the Republican presidential candidate's reluctance to acknowledge that Obama was born in the U.S. -- he released his long-form Hawaii birth certificate in 2011 -- Trump campaign manager Kellyanne Conway has said in recent interviews that Trump does indeed believe the president is born in the U.S.
When asked if Conway's assertion was accurate, Trump told the newspaper, "It's okay. She's allowed to speak what she thinks. I want to focus on jobs. I want to focus on other things."
Former New York City mayor Rudy Giuliani, a Trump surrogate, also recently said Trump believes Obama is born in the U.S.
The Republican presidential candidate continued, "I don't talk about it anymore. The reason I don't is because then everyone is going to be talking about it as opposed to jobs, the military, the vets, security."
Trump was asked if his courtship of African-Americans could be stymied by the birther issue and "hang over his candidacy." His response? "I think it hangs over the reporters."

Trump should say that he now believes Obama was born in “one of the 57 states of the United States” and has narrowed it down to seven in particular.

This is a lie. Nobody has ever seen Obama’s long-form birth certificate. Mine is in a drawer right beside me. You may NOT see Obama’s. Obama offers only his fraudulent COLB, now revoked. What you are allowed to see is... Nothing. And you must accept it, or you are a racist.

Nobody involved in this “discussion” knows for sure where Obama was born. People simply choose to believe what someone else has said they “know” to be true, and that someone has chosen to believe what some other know-it-all “knows” is true. And for that matter, Obama himself may not know where he was born. So actually Trump, like everyone else, can say he believes whatever he pleases, but KNOWING and BELIEVING are not the same thing.
The media is grasping for anything because their beloved Hillary is sinking fast! Love seeing the left in total panic making themselves look truly desperate and not hiding their bias.
Yes, they most certainly are desperate. Today I read that Trump had previously said that he had an appendectomy when he was 10 yrs old, but in his medical filing it said he was 11 yrs old. The corrupt so-called ‘reporters’ in the media thought they discovered plutonium.

Great response by Trump and his team. He’s got a short period of time left to make his case to the American people, and this issue isn’t a winner. If he’s elected, he can get to the bottom of Obama’s lies and crimes, including his forged birth certificate and other document tampering.
Trump is apparently doing better among blacks than they thought he would. They think it especially upsets blacks.
It will be the 1st Lester Holt will ask him in the debate.

Go through the litany of issues that Trump is running on, the wall, JOBS, economy, 2nd amendment, Supreme Court, etc.
THESE are the issues the American people care about. Frankly it makes the press look foolish by continuing to bring up this NON-issue.
We are going to continue to talk about the issues that the American people care about. If you want to keep talking about this NON-issue, you’ll just be talking amongst yourselves.
If (when) they come back with but, but, but.... just sit there and refuse to answer.
After a pregnant pause, they will say, Katrina are you still with us? You respond by asking was there a question about the issues that Americans actually care about that you wanted to ask me?
If they go back to the birther issue....repeat.
At the end you could say... it’s a shame you had to waste your time and your listeners time on this NON-issue.
