A majority of Texans oppose building a wall along the U.S.-Mexico border and banning immigration from countries with terrorism ties, two of Republican presidential nominee Donald Trump's most high-profile immigration proposals, according to a new poll by the Texas Lyceum.
Fifty-nine percent of Texans surveyed said they were against building a wall to stop illegal immigration, while 35 percent supported the plan.

No probably the bluest of blue tx city...beats Austin by 100 miles....STINKING HEAP OF LIBERAL CACA EL PASO TX!!! I betcha!
I've long called this the 'People Magazine Treatment.'
In the pre-Internet days People Magazine would always seek out some nobody who had been inexplicably vaulted into national prominence - usually due to so-called bullying (read: rejection of their bizarre or deviant behavior).
No matter how tenuous the subject's family life, People always managed to stage some photo that beat the reader over the head with 'SEE?!?! THEY'RE NORMAL PEOPLE JUST LIKE YOU AND ME!'
Almost inevitably, they would be seated on a couch, playing with a dog (despite serious doubt the dog belonged to them). Shots of them barefoot or cooking up a meal in the kitchen were also among the cliched shots (even for subjects who appeared to eat breakfast, lunch and dinner at McDonald's or KFC).
OK, this isn’t going to be well-received, but it’s the truth: long-time Texans are a practical bunch, and we know our geography.
There are places where a wall can’t be built or shouldn’t be built. Look at the Big Bend. In less rugged terrain, who gets the Rio Grande? Do we cede access to Mexico, or do we invade and build on their side?
Texans hate illegality, but we value practicality. (And hate eminent domain.). There are better ways.
Font page on the ultra liberal Dallas Morning News. I don’t believe anything that comes out of the Dallas Morning News.
Austin is Berkley with Armadillos
Curious as to what convoluted reason would be behind a no vote. The article only provides a clue as it’s a Liberal rag.
Looks like they only poled the Austin Statesman, and the Travis county courthouse.
This poll is from the Austin American Statesman newspaper. Uber lib Austin is an embarrassment to the great state of Texas. Nothing good comes out of Austin. IOW, the poll was slanted toward libs rather than Texas as a whole. LIES!!!!
What stands in contrast to the incorrectly opinionated article is that during the primaries, it was the border counties that supported Trump!
As soon as I saw the word, “POLL,” I knew whatever followed was going to be bogus. Just like ZERO’s supposed “59% Approval Rating”.
When Texas secedes, we’re walling off Austin and leaving it behind.
The survey only proves that Texans are smart enough to know that but for a few miles near New Mexico, the entire 1,200 mile length of the Texas border with Mexico is the Rio Grande river.
Austin? Okay.
Thank you.
This poll must have only been taken in Austin.
LOTS AND LOTS of illegals in Texas... Could that be a factor here?
Bet on it.
