Few people understand how the internet runs, but we all know what ‘web pages’ are. That’s where we ‘surf’ for information.
And the devil is in the details. Those pages are organized through domain names [including the pages of this forum].
ICANN runs the domain name system. And its contract with the US federal government limits ICANN’s ability to meddle with peoples’ ownership. Europe now recommends changing that. They want to use ICANN as the vehicle for a globalist network to police the internet [aka Hillary’s Internet Gatekeeper]. That way they can suppress ‘hate speech’.
China is also holding secret talks with ICANN.
The federal government need only renew that contract by September 30 or ICANN becomes a ‘free agent’ which can secretly wheel and deal with anyone on earth.

Put it this way, we never would have seen Hillary’s episode if it wasn’t for the uncensored internet. There would be no conservative movement. We would be spoon fed information, just like in Stalin’s regime. We would have a carbon credit stock market. It’s good that Ted Cruz is getting back to what the people of Texas elected him to do.
If he does that well for two years they may decide to keep him.
He should never again attempt to usurp the Presidency.

Well, the organization that oversees the internet has thus far been under US oversight. When US control ends in October, IMO, there is the potential for future censorship. Cruz warned:
“It is not a democratic body,” Cruz said of the organization, which includes such internet stakeholders as Google and Facebook and is based in Los Angeles. And he warned that authoritarian countries such as China, Russia and Iran could exert control over the organization and censor internet use in their countries.”
I don’t trust Facebook at all to protect freedom of speech, as they have already been known to censor conservative speech and even shut down some people’s Facebook pages if they are deemed “too offensive”.
Great. Can this be altered by Trump once the deal is done, meaning we dont sign a new agreement in time?

Twitter,s management has yet to figure out to create cash flow from their device. The limited format of a tweet is not conducive to ads.
Can’t they put ads on the sides of the page? Is the problem that no advertiser wants a 20 second audience?
They’ve gone from 80 to 18 and I’m NOT buying. There’s a reason things go down and that reason needs to be corrected before buying back in.

Yes they will be able to make our sites hate speach. They do it in Germany right now. The timing of the giving the net to Ucann has always been suspect to me....one month before the election.
Also the FEC, I think it is FEC wants to regulate politcal speech on net too. Troubling times for sure.
