As for “20 former ambassadors”.... the number of living former ambassadors must be pretty vast, so 20 is actually a small number. Big f-ing deal.

What “occupation?”
Certainly not the real occupation, that being Israeli land occupied by majority-Muslim Arabs who falsely call themselves “Palestinian”.
Did anyone care about the 1949-1967 period when the West Bank was ‘occupied’ by Jordan? Why doesn’t anyone ever refer to that as an occupation? The so called 1967 borders are merely a 1949 Armistice line that none of the Arabs of the time regarded as anything official. Their propensity for ad hoc history is mind boggling.
All three Israeli groups, Jewish, Muslim and Catholic do get along because they HAVE to. It works because they WANT it to work. They all love their country and its history.

I ran into a young woman, whose parents are Palestinian. They call themselves that. The young woman was born here and sounds 100% American. Her parents MISS the old country but SHE...nope because she doesn't know it. She is American, born and bred, with allegiance to our stars and stripes.

The West Bank “settlement” problem needs to be dealt with.
I suspect many settlers are settlers for economic reasons - Israeli real estate prices can be very high.
Perhaps a high-speed rail line could be built between Jerusalem and Tel Aviv, underground in the developed areas of those cities with stations in employment centers.
Low-cost housing could be built near stations on low-cost now rural land in Israel and existing settlers in the West Bank could be offered first change to move into the low-cost housing.
Commuters could be in Tel Aviv or Jerusalem quickly.
Israel will still need to control the West Bank to keep Arab heavy artillery and rockets out of it.

Perhaps a restricted access high-speed roadway with tunnels underneath Israel roads could be built linking the two areas.
