Powell was an excellent Secretary of State. He alone identified the communications problems and set out immediately to rectify antiquated computer/networks, telephone switches, radio and satellite and made both Information Management and Diplomatic Security increases in manpower at the expense of traditional cones for political, economic, counselor, admin management and public affairs.
After his liberal leanings for abortion sunk his chances for higher office within the RNC, he felt betrayed and has ever since be a liberal's wet dream.
He was born in Jamaica as I recall and came to NYC as a youth and never really considered himself what we call an American Black.
I came into the State Department IT from Department of Amry Civil Service IT and supported Powell once in Jersualem, President Bush once in J-rue; Condi Rice three times in J-rue and handled with one other IMS the Rio de Janeiro Consulate support for the Obama visit in 2010. It is only since the ascension of Obama that Powell's personal stock dropped with me; however, professionally I am proud to have worked under him and his initiatives at State.
I understand your loyalty, and believe your assessment, but his emails drip arrogance to me. Not just personal arrogance, but the arrogance of public office - which we should quit calling public service, because it just isn’t.
