Cokie Roberts: Dems ‘Nervously Beginning to Whisper’ About Hillary Replacement; Floats Biden...

Monday on NPR’s “Morning Edition,” ABC political commentator Cokie Roberts offered her thoughts on the apparent health issues regarding Democratic presidential nominee Hillary Clinton and the how the party could be looking to handle things if a replacement is needed for Clinton.

According to Roberts, there was already conversation within the party about such a possibility.

“The fact that it comes now when the polls are tightening and Democrats are already saying that Hillary was the only candidate who could not beat Trump and it is taking her off of the campaign trail, canceling her trip to California – it has them very nervously beginning to whisper about having her step aside and finding another candidate.”

When asked if that really could happen, Roberts called it “unlikely to be a real thing,” but floated the name of Vice President Joe Biden as a possible replacement.

She was put in that van as they would put a protectee in imminent danger. It was like they responded as if she was under fire.

Agreed! She is not going to bow out. She has had her eye on this ball her entire adult life. Scheming, cheating, lying, and all of the atrocities and crimes that have been committed to get to this point. She must be freaking out pretty bad these days - knowing that she is NOT going to win.

How could they just take and substitute in Biden, who never ran in the primary?

I think they would have to get Bernie Sanders who ran second to Hillary in the primary.

The smarter Democrats knew that Hillary would be a very weak candidate in the general election, but they couldn’t do anything about it because of the amount of power the Clintons have in the DNC and the party’s Super PACs. I’m sure many of them were quietly hoping that some scandal would sink her early on or that her campaign would somehow implode. Her failing health may give them what they want. However, what they’re forgetting is that they don’t really have any strong candidate to replace Hillary with - they’re all basically duds in the competence and charisma departments. Biden is a walking gaffe, Elizabeth Warren is a Sanders-style left-wing extremist minus the alleged appeal of Sanders’ grandfatherly persona, and Tim Kaine comes across as a complete nonentity.

She will be elected and rule from her glass mausoleum.

Just like Lenin did.
Just like we are today.
The president is just an office holder; a Soros string puppet.

But the DNC can redirect the electoral votes to the true, final candidate.

Biden would be a strong candidate, even though he says a lot of stupid things. Remember, Democratic voters already have shown the willingness to accept weak candidates- they just get a little nervous voting for nearly dead candidates. And in Missouri, that didn't even stop them back when Mel Carnahan was killed in a plane crash weeks before his election to the US Senate.

The best case scenario here is that the Biden and Warren and Bernie whispers keep on going, while Clinton hangs on. That would just confuse Democratic voters, and they would be more likely to not vote.

This power struggle is best if it's undecided but active on election day.

Probably. Hillary would have all kinds of help - Bill Clinton, George Soros, Obama and various thugs and partisans willing to pull the strings. They all want the same thing. Hillary is just a current figurehead for socialism.

This election is over for Clinton and anyone else if they decide to give her the hook.

55 days until election day?

The Clinton machine? She is the strongest candidate they got. Why would they want her off the ticket?

I don’t understand WTF is going around here but it stinks of wishful thinking to me. Hilary is fine. She sure the hell is not an will not drop out. Besides if she was truly sick she would get a decent sympathy bump in the polls. I recall there as some state where the Democrat was falling behind. He died and his wife ran in his place and won due to sympathy voters - no one ever said voting was rational.

Biden would do better than Hilary? Please. The other day in fact, and I admit I am getting older, I couldn't even remember his name.
