There are probably only a few frequency ranges that are used for this sort of thing.

A scrambler system should be possible, it would be hard to detect, without detecting the other signal. Almost impossible if it were not on continually.

300Hz to 4 khz. Very narrow range. Easily jammed.

I would suggest recording the signals, then playing an ad showing the signals and her answers/
