The National Football League's 97th season may get off to a rocky start if the entire Seattle Seahawks team follows through on a threat to sit during the national anthem on Sunday, the 15-year anniversary of the Sept. 11th terrorist attacks.

Seahawks cornerback Jeremy Lane has led the charge, but on Wednesday receiver Doug Baldwin said he may join his defensive teammate on the bench at the start of the game against the Miami Dolphins.

Watch the beginning of any Blackhawks home hockey game - the entire audience stands up and cheers in support through the entire anthem. And that’s in democrat-dominated Chicago . . . preliminary to a game invented in Canada . . . played mostly by non-Americans. Started after 9/11 and continues to this day.

The guys and gals who pay the bills are still as patriotic as ever, and the overpaid thugs in whatever sport ignore that little detail at their financial peril.

The problem for some fans is they have already coughed up the money for season tickets. Little chance they could get their money back.

OK, This is GREAT!

Now if we can just cover the cheerleaders with burkas, everything will be perfect!

(BTW, which muezzin will do the call to prayer over the PA system?)

I heard they’re doing something patriotic. If they show disrespect, I will be finished with professional football, and I an ardent Seahawk fan, living in Washington state.

In 1898 the Brown Conference Committee Report sought to prevent college athletics “from interfering with the mental and moral training of the students.”

When I look at the NCAA today, I realize they were right.

At this point I am planning to watch the game on TV. If they do sit through the National Anthem I will change channels and never watch them again. Just think of all the commercials I won’t have to endure!

The country doesn’t oppress blacks. It has given them a privileged position and immunity from the consequences of their actions. In return they continue to blame the country for their self-induced pathologies.
By doing this on 9/11 they are proving they hate the country as much as the muzzards.

I wasn’t much into wrestling but President Trump is, Perhaps that will become Americas sport and the NFL will be as soccer or cricket. SCREW THE NFL!

The NFL is just another segment of the “bread-and-circuses” economy, a hobby of the wealthy. The players (most of whom would be “aspiring rappers” if they weren’t drafted) overestimate their own importance.

The left in general overestimates how much the “national anthem” or flag mean to a growing number of Americans, many of whom see it as an anti-Christian banner of “gay marriage”, legalized abortion on demand, affirmative action/preferential treatment, open borders, and basically the Tower of Babel...

Since Pete Carroll is a 9/11 truther I would think
the refusal to honor the flag of the US would be right
up his alley. Am I missing something?

I wouldn't blame the NFL in this case. They probably have no legal grounds to do anything about it. I expect a stipulation describing exactly how players conduct themselves during the national anthem will be included in the next collective bargaining agreement with the player's association.

This is exactly what happened in the NBA when they faced a similar situation with some malcontent back in the 1990s.

Anyone who looks at this objectively realizes that it's a complete farce. Colin Kaepernick claims that he won't stand during the national anthem because people of color are allegedly oppressed and abused by the police in this country, and yet his whole life revolves around a professional career that allows him to make sure he never has to live within seven zip codes of people like Trayvon Martin, Freddy Gray and Michael Brown.

My view of the high school game:
If I were the coach, I would tell the team that they forfeited the game. And if it was a home game, the time would be spent on a hell workout. If they don’t like it, they can quit.

Acquiescing and letting it happen, ‘Sorry owners that optic means agreement!’ whether you like it or not! They can suffer the consequences, loss of fan support & the accompanying loss of revenue.
