With next years presidential elections looming large, the French government will make a raft of tax cuts for households and businesses.
Frances government unveiled Friday plans to lower taxes on households and companies, as the ruling Socialists lined up their budget for the 2017 election year.
The gesture to households would take the form of a reduction in income taxes by 20 percent for the middle class, Finance Minister Michel Sapin told AFP.
Around 5 million households would benefit from the 1 billion ($1.1 billion) reduction in income taxes, worth about 200 per family.

Socialists cutting taxes is like a five year old driving a car.
yeah.....good plan.....til the money runs out 2 minutes after the election
SSocialist demagoguery AS USUAL .
Those guys ( hollande , valSS ) are beyond shame
ulysse ( France )
If I read that correctly last night when it was talked about...for the average guy....it’ll amount to around 250-to-400 Euro ($300-$500 at best). This was also spoken in a way that indicated it was simply a one-year cut.
Right now....there’s virtually no way that Hollande can get into the final two ballot vote in this primary season coming up in the spring. Maybe they are thinking the “gift” of a tax break will help him. He’s barely at 9-percent nationally, against 3 different right-wing folks who are polling 15-to-25 percent each.
You can fool most of the people most of the time.
Here is Ronald Reagan on The Toight Show with Johnny Carson talking about how there should be a limit on how much government can tax you. He also said that when they were growing up the total tax burden on the citizenry was 15%. Amazing how things have changed.

Anything more than a 19 or 20 percent tax burden is criminal IMHO.
