The Spy way
she commits a crime, then SOMEBODY ELSE gets in trouble for it.
That pattern has persisted for DECADES —apparently nothing has changed.
I find that amazing.
“Powells antiquated AOL account, which worked over a phone line in his office at the State Department.....”
Is this from the Onion?
Dial-Up AOL at the State Department?
Ridiculous.
Good for colon. May he get his just desserts.
That’ll teach him to get wrapped up with Democrats.
It is also amazing she 'kept' this email, she usually deleted them.
By 2009 there was far more awareness of email security vulnerabilities, and laws and regulations were tighter. Shrillary cannot make any rational defense based upon what transpired years before. She was in flagrant violation of State Dept policies and federal regulations.
"Her people have been trying to pin it on me," Powell, 79, told PEOPLE Saturday night at the Apollo in the Hamptons 2016 Night of Legends fête in East Hampton, New York.
"The truth is, she was using [the private email server] for a year before I sent her a memo telling her what I did," Powell added.
AOL was way outdated for all but little old ladies in rural areas in 1999.
But at the State Department in 2009?
Except....we know absolutely that she's lying...and she shouldn't have done it. Bore your audience....works every time.
The emails were released by Rep. Elijah Cummings, D-Maryland, a ranking member of the House Committee on Oversight and Government Reform. Cummings said he procured the documents through a procedure that allows members of the committee to obtain federal records.
House Democrats Release Emails Between Colin Powell and Hillary Clinton Showing Advice He Gave Her - NBC News
I think it is important to note that Powell thought e-mails were like phone calls - not part of official records. He thought this because both used phone lines. Since that time, it has been more or less common knowledge that e-mails are part of official records. In private, they are what lawyers refer to as "discoverable." Phone calls are not discoverable.
Powell mentioned the existence of this email a few weeks ago, and at the time said that he didn;t have a copy of it. My point there is that this email is "old news." Hillary citing Powell as justification for her private server has been tried at least twice in the past month.
Hardly in 2009. Colin Powell was Secretary of State from January 20, 2001 January 26, 2005.
Hey Colon Bowel, still spewing your crap I see.
Do us all a favor and STFU!
He used a government computer at his desk for all classified information.
She enjoys using Colin and the FBI as a buffer against the GOP.
“Since that time, it has been more or less common knowledge that e-mails are part of official records.”
It was well known before that time, too. A large swath of Reagan-era emails were FOIA-ed before Powell took the State Dept position. The whole purpose of Hillary’s homebrew was to evade a similar FOIA mess.
With all due respect to Ret. General Powell, the problem with email is security. it would have been better to call it e-post card instead of email.
During his tenure as SoS, I'm not sure state.gov even had a public email system. The state.gov web page dates back to 1996:
https://web.archive.org/web/19961230182605/http://www.state.gov/
But, look at the contact info at the bottom. The email address is: usdosweb@uic.edu.
Perhaps he didn't cross all all the t's and dot all the i's, but he didn't engage in a gross dereliction of duty.
