PHOENIX (KSAZ) - A newlywed couple raised in Arizona created a successful YouTube business. Then they decided it was time to leave the valley and explore life, so they moved to Chicago.
But one day after arriving in the "Windy City," their big move turned into a big nightmare.
"It's one of the most amazing cities in America," said Brianna White.
"Hey, why not, we're doing okay. We can go there and be okay financially, so why not go and see what happens," said Jaelin White.
But what happened next terrified the Whites. All unpacked, the couple took the train to get a bite to eat.
"A guy comes up to us and starts trying to ask questions."
"I'm trying to be nice, realizing something's strange."
The stranger followed the couple off the train and down the street.
"I don't know what he wants, he could have a gun, he could have a knife."

They darted into a Subway restaurant, hoping he'd leave them alone."
"He's like looking through the window at us and stuff."
"When he wouldn't leave, the couple called Uber and 9-1-1 for help. In the meantime, Jaelin tried to talk to the stranger."
"I was like, hey man, do you need anything? You want a sandwich? He's like, 'No, I'm hanging around' in a creepy tone."
What happened next, no one expected.
"My whole world was flipped upside down."
"I go to walk out and he just clocks me."

Ye gads...watched about thirty seconds of that before the fear that I would develop diabetes set in...
Really dumb move.
I would bet this is staged, for attention for their YouTube business.
I lived in Chicagoland for 19 years. Left in 2002 when I retired. Worst thing that happened to us was my daughter’s stereo was stolen from her car while parked in Wrigleyville.
Things have gotten worse there recently, but like most cities, it is a matter of using your head about where to go and where not to. I’m far more concerned about walking around most of DC.
Moved to Chicago without a gun. Stupid is as stupid does.
Just watched the video.
Clueless millennials.
I can't believe we have adults in this country that have reached that age and are that clueless about the underbelly of society.
She must be a pretty smart cookie to get rich this way. If she ever drops Jaelin and decides that a fat, old, balding guy is the one for her...I’m available.
These people are surely not stupid, but...
The certainly are naive and enjoy total lack of judgement!
What normal adult would move 1000 or more mile to any large city without spending at least a month visiting their destination, asking questions, and feeling comfortable with the place before committing?
Its called White Flight.
Honest why anyone wold move to Chicago is beyond me. The cynic in me says staged, but probably not.
I thought "gentrification" where whites moved back to the cities and cleaned everything up causing rents to rise was the latest outrage.
FWIW, most of Chicago is pretty safe. The violence rate is skewed by a small handful of almost entirely black neighborhoods that are absolute war zones.

Adults looking for publicity and attention.

The area they’re describing wasn’t that bad - somewhere between Rogers Park (basically okay, but with some low-life element) and Uptown (pretty much a dump). So it’s a bit surprising to me that they ran into the trouble they did.
What was clear is that these kids were incredibly naive, and if you’re dealing with the dregs in a big city, those sorts can smell out a mark a mile away. Anybody who has lived in the city for a reasonable length of time knows you’ve got to be careful with whom you strike up random conversations . These bozos not only started chatting with some random goofball on the El platform, they (well the guy anyway) actually voluntarily reinitiated contact with him several times. Whatever the problem was with the jerkoff who cold-cocked the kid, that guy knew he was dealing with babes in the woods.
My guess is they’re better off in Arizona (although they might want to avoid some of the bigger cities there as well).
Have you heard of the "knockout game?"
A game common among black thugs? Getting hit savagely on the face or head with a fist or a hard object.
Deaths have resulted in more than a few cases.

America’s choice, hood or barrio?
I did it a few times. Grew up in IA. Wife wanted to move somewhere warm. We went to Phoenix, great place for young Republicans in the '60s. Moved to DC/Virginia to work for a GOP congressman. My work then took me to Chicago. Retired in Virginia. Great experience for my kids to live in different parts of the country.
A few days ago I was at a bus stop, late afternoon, and two "youths" I'd never seen before asked, "Hey, are you voting for Bernie Sanders?" Tall kids. Neither one had a clipboard. I mumbled something and stepped out into the street to search for the bus that (thank God) was there in just a minute. We all boarded (I took care to sit well away from them) and made sure they were headed off somewhere else when I disembarked.
At the academy, we learned how criminals look for weak targets to prey on. This guy looks like a total pussy, so no wonder he was targeted. And don’t even get me started on his effeminate name. This guy is a prime target in a jungle environment. His wife made a bad choice. Next time, she should find a real man.
