Trump hit a home run with his meeting with Mexico’s president
CNBC ^ | Jake Novak

Posted on 08/31/2016 3:14:48 PM PDT by RoosterRedux

Just when it seemed like the negative image of Donald Trump as a xenophobic, racist, and cartoonish excuse for a presidential candidate was permanently stained into most of the voters' minds, someone on his campaign staff had the brilliant idea to accept the invitation to meet Mexican President Enrique Peña Nieto in Mexico City.

And now that the meeting is over, and both Trump and Nieto have made their formal statements, it's clear Trump has been given a crucial presidential-looking shot in the arm from perhaps the one foreign leader we least expected to give it to him. But that's not where the positives for Trump end, not by a long shot.

Suddenly, we now have a new context for Trump's long-awaited speech on immigration. Before the meeting, Trump was facing a tough challenge. Several conservatives, and even one of his most ardent supporters in Ann Coulter, had been getting much attention as they accused Trump of flip-flopping on illegal immigration and especially the deportation question. There are reports the Trump campaign is hoping to gloss over deportation at least somewhat by focusing on securing the southern border with Mexico instead. That seems like it might be a tough needle to thread. But now that Trump is making the speech coming directly from that border, that new focus suddenly becomes more plausible.

The buzz is now about the Mexico meeting and fewer people are talking about deportation. And since President Peña Nieto himself made border security part of his own set of priorities in his portion of the news conference, this entire event is amounting to something of a home run for Trump and his quest for legitimacy.

Why would Hillary go?
We can only go by she has already said and there is no reason to believe she has changed her policy of open borders, continuation of sanctuary cities, free healthcare for illegals, which during a State Of the Union, stated illegals would NOT get obama are and was shocked when representative Joe Wilson yelled out liar! Of course Wilson was excoriated for exposing the truth.
Now Hillary swears by it,but she won’t come out and say it,she can’t talk about her policies because they are anti American

I thought he did a great job, too. And the optics were off the chart. The MSM really had little choice in reporting it. Even their SUPER SPIN-O-TRON didn’t allow them to put much of a negative on this one.

Absolutely. It was the kind of masterstroke that only Mr Trump himself could have pulled off.

Whilst Hillary sleeps Trump is travelling abroad working hard to protect the interests of American citizens.

There can be no greater contrast between the candidates.

Looks like Trump found a way to let the Mexicans save face while he continues his plan to build the wall. The twist is that now the wall is framed as being in the interests of both the US and Mexico. It’ll stop illegal immigrants from flowing north and guns from flowing south.

I thought you were 35 from your posts! That’s a real compliment, my friend! God bless you.

And, yes, our pal is doing well.

Exactly. During an election, foreign diplomats and intelligence agents are especially targeting intelligence on the election. Nieto, and Mexico, are no difference.

Trump brilliantly outmaneuvered Cankles once again. And he could not have done it without Nieto’s invitation and collaboration. Nieto has given up on Cankles.

If Hillary keeps hiding, she loses.

If she comes out of hiding, she loses.

Oh poor Hillary.

President Peña Nieto invited both Trump and Clinton to meet with him to discuss immigration, and now it will look sort of like a pathetic game of catch up if Hillary accepts and meets with him second.

She hasn't caught up with the flooding in Louisiana yet. It's hard to tell exactly what she is doing but what she isn't doing is running for office.

Trump asked Nieto how he wanted it to go when he became President - hard, or easy. Nieto chose easy. Trump gave the world an example of how easy things can be when you don’t screw with him. The world - the entire world - took notice.

This was a Trump masterstroke.

Reagan got me aware of politics and truly inspired me.

I have never been inspired by another politician...until Trump made his declaration speech and stated clearly he would build the wall.

Only voter fraud can deny Trump and “we the people”.

The only thing the LSM has left is calling it a political stunt.

Remind them of the fact that Hillary and Trump were both invited by the President of Mexico, they just slink away.

Her water is getting heavier for them every day.

Over the years Trump has built around the world and knows many of its leaders..

Now I can see him meeting with Bibi Netanyahu, and The PM of India who aren’t backing Hellary.

I’m sure the nit-pickers on the Left and the Right will find some fault with it. But it’s certainly more positive than anything we’ve seen lately.

Mexico knows who will win the election and decided to enter into talks with the future President. This speaks much more than the media’s propaganda polls.

Mexico must have paid for polling and found out our network polls are bogus. Trump must be ahead.
