MIAMI Senator Marco Rubio of Florida was nominated for a second term by Republican voters on Tuesday, five months after suspending his presidential campaign. He will face Representative Patrick Murphy, a two-term House Democrat, in one of the crucial races for control of the Senate.
The primary results appeared to point to a preference among voters in Florida, a pivotal swing state, to eschew more extreme candidates on the right and the left in favor of establishment lawmakers favored by national party leaders.
In another important primary race, Senator John McCain of Arizona, a Republican seeking a sixth term, faces a challenge from his right from Dr. Kelli Ward, a family doctor and a former state senator. The winner will probably face a tough race against Representative Ann Kirkpatrick, who has made it a point of her campaign to court Latinos and American Indians in an increasingly diverse state.
In Florida, Mr. Rubio, who was asked by Republican leaders to jump into the Senate race after saying initially that he would not seek re-election, defeated Carlos Beruff, a wealthy Gulf Coast homebuilder. Mr. Beruff, who is Cuban-American and spent $8 million of his own money on his Senate bid, is an enthusiastic supporter of Donald J. Trump, the Republican presidential nominee. Mr. Rubios Democratic opponent, Mr. Murphy, bested Representative Alan Grayson, a liberal provocateur who was favored by many progressives but faced ethics investigations in the House and accusations that he had abused his former wife.

I’m glad Marco won... now he needs to best Murphy...and he should...
DWS’s district consists of retired northeast liberals...
It measures enthusiasm and motivation. This will be a turnout election.
If Trump comes back from Mexico withe the slightest hint of an agreement he will surge into the lead in Florida and elsewhere!

Looking at the primary results last night in depth, I predict Trump will win in Texas, Florida, Ohio & Pennsylvania with massive victories in those states!!! Rubio better hook-up in tight fashion with Donald J. Trump today. Running together in harmony & loyalty, no Democrat can come close to winning Florida. It’s Trump & Rubio...alll the way to victory, in November.....Trump to POTUS & Rubio to the Senate.
After probing in-depth, last night’s primary races, read my lips.....Donald J. Trump wll be our next POTUS, the Pubbies will keep both the House & Senate with ease!!! If the Republicans could pull together as a united team, they could hold & control the POTUS & Congress for the next twenty years!!! go Donald J. Trump!!!
No other way. Times like this we must be pragmatic, live to fight another day! Good morning friend!
I don’t get the logic of “I’ll never vote for Rubio”. It should just be stated clearly as “lets go murphy!” Same folks refused to vote for a Mormon so they got us an anti christian instead.
I agree Trump/Pence/Rubio unite and win Florida with God’s mercy. I also pray for reconciliation and uniting around Trump/Pence in Ohio and Pennsylvania. If we win in PA, it will be a political earthquake. Pray without ceasing God will show our nation this undeserved grace and enable us to turn, as a nation, away from catastrophe and toward His light. May He humble Donald Trump and Mike Pence and raise them up, making them our leaders in wisdom, knowledge, and understanding to help all Americans who are afflicted. and others of good will whose citizenship is in other countries or heaven.
Marco won't do anything for anyone except Marco.
SMH.
Rubio is worse than the current feckless Senate majority leader.
He, and it seems you and many others, want to make his continued lifestyle of feeding at the public trough a “racial” issue, as opposed to a rational measure of his work in public office.
No thanks.
I could give a rip about rubio. however bad he is, a dem majority is worse. Can we not see the effect of the stay home purists wrought by the current admin ? All that has happened in the last eight years was preventable. However bad mittens was, he would not have appointed the beast to sec state, or vietnam kerry to anything.
