Great point. I carry concealed, but I also observe the more mundane of security measures, like LOCKING DOORS when you get in, and watching who is behind you at all times.
"It was a dark and stormy night."
Head on a swivel walking in public areas...also.
Taught my girls to be aware..of what is going on around them. I think it stuck.
This reporter thinks he’s Hemingway in lingerie
Jesus
Hey Mia
My first thought was Hemingway in lingerie or mascara
This writer is so incredibly gay it’s painful
He writes like he had a priapism the whole time
That’s too of us badger
Gay hemingway
Yeah, I also taught my kids this. When we all go to a restaurant, they know: take a table away from the cash register(s) or the bar, in a place where we can see the entrance, and Dad ALWAYS sits such that he can see the door.
Or, move to New Hampshire.
It's interesting to me, when I travel, how so much of my country is occupied. In northern New England, we just don't live the way tens of millions do now, thinking about things like the quote above.
The last time I was in Orlando, some young lawyer told me that you can't go out at night. I mean, really? People really put up with this?
Thousands of crimes across our country just like this one. Thugs feel emboldened by Obama and his DOJ and “his” (yes, I said “his”) BLM movement.
Not only do we put up with it. Many don't know anything different.
When I tell my kids I grew up in a not so great, working class city in upstate NY and we never locked ANYTHING. Not doors, not cars, slept with our windows open in the summer, left our windows open when we went out on nice days (rare, haha)-they think I am just getting old and remembering things better than they really were.
These kids and their kids--they'll go straight into Brazil/South Africa and never know it doesn't have to be this way.
“I watch my six...closely too. Head on a swivel walking in public areas...also.”
Same here. Even out in the relatively peaceful GOP-leaning suburb I live in, I still pay attention.
I try not to make it look obvious - but yes, I pay attention to my surroundings.
It is this kind of goofy reporting that drives the locals to Venice311.org and @Venice311 on Twitter with 122,000 followers to get the story.
In the 60’s we lived in the country not far from a prison farm. We always left our keys in the car so if there was an escaped convict they would take the car and not come in the house looking for the key.
“Relaxed and happy” sounds like code for drunk.
Hey Doc, blame yourself, quit hanging around in Amish bars. /s
I propose a Godwin type law. Every thread about violence shall continue until sombody mentions the Amish.
That was my impression too. Save the hyperbole and backstory nonsense for your screenwriting class. Report the story and leave the rest to Hemingway.
I read it all but I am still not sure what happened due to the choppy, amateur writing. I cant find various details in the article that should be there.
Terrible writing and comes off pointless.
>>I try not to make it look obvious - but yes, I pay attention to my surroundings.<<
Not me, I make it very obvious that you will not be sneaking up on me and my wife without being seen.
