SANTA CLARA — Colin Kaepernick didn’t do much to warrant headlines with his performance on the field Friday, but he’s certainly in for his fair share of scrutiny after he sat through the national anthem before his preseason debut against the Packers.
Mike Florio of ProFootballTalk.com was first to report Kaepernick didn’t stand for the national anthem and got the 49ers to issue a statement on the matter. The statement from the 49ers to PFT:
“The national anthem is and always will be a special part of the pre-game ceremony. It is an opportunity to honor our country and reflect on the great liberties we are afforded as its citizens. In respecting such American principles as freedom of religion and freedom of expression, we recognize the right of an individual to choose to participate, or not, in our celebration of the national anthem.”
Kaepernick has used his social media profiles to showcase his political beliefs but has never before made a statement of this magnitude. It will be interesting to see how the 49ers and/or Kaepernick address this further.

Remember in 2015 when Colin Kaepernick posted four separate Instagram posts blasting Donald Trump for his anti-Muslim remarks? Kaepernick isn’t a practicing Muslim as far as we know, but that could be changing soon, at least according to one source.
TerezOwnens.com says that Kaepernick may be converting to Islam for his girlfriend, radio DJ Nessa.

I’d wait until hearing from Kaepernick himself before I put any money on this … and how messed up would I have to be to bet on Kaepernick becoming Muslim in the first place? That would be a serious gambling addiction right there.

The solution is simple, he can choose not to be a part of the American Pastime and respect our history, and culture at his leisure, however, on the 49ers dime, uh uh. Multi-Thousand dollar fines enacted each time he behaves this way, which will escalate until he complies. Let all see if the almighty dollar can persuade him or his Muslim beliefs outweigh such comparisons. As an American you have certain rights, as an employee, on company time, you pull the company line....we will see if they do anything at all about this.
