Mike is right. You don’t need a degree to succeed. There are MANY college graduates with degrees who can’t find a job because there is no demand in their field. And there are plenty of highly skilled, well paid people who never set foot in college. When I was in the Navy, I worked with many very intelligent, highly skilled people who never went to college.
I had no college degree but managed to work my way up from a labor grade 7 mechanic to a labor grade 1, supervisor, test conductor and eventually classified as a propulsion engineer. Hard work, common sense, willing to do whatever needed to be done paid off for me. Took 36 years but it worked for me. Probably not so much anymore.
My daughter-in-law graduated from UNM 18 months ago magna cum laude with a double major in psychology and criminology.
She is a receptionist at a day care.
