Comedian and actress Amy Schumer absurdly claimed if only she kept her mouth shut about her real feelings about politics or gun violence that career-wise it would be financially better for me, but I dont care.
This is coming from someone who currently can be seen all over your TV in a national ad campaign for Bud Light, which even includes a commercial that spouted progressive talking points.
The star of Comedy Centrals Inside Amy Schumer and last summers box office hit Trainwreck came on Fridays edition of PBSs Charlie Rose show to promote her new book The Girl With the Lower Back Tattoo, and proudly told Rose shes not afraid to offer her political stances on Hillary Clinton, Donald Trump and gun control. Because, you know, taking lefty stands takes so much courage in liberal, progressive Hollywood.
Schumer also said that if she found out a personal friend was supporting Trump that would be a deal-breaker for her: I would really pull back from the friendship. Thats such a huge thats such a huge line.
The following are the relevant exchanges as they were aired on the August 20 edition of PBSs Charlie Rose show:
AMY SCHUMER: I have an expectation for myself to be honest and be proud of how Im living. So, do I think, do I think it will hurt my ticket sales on the road that I am so vocal about being a Hillary supporter? Yes. I think
CHARLIE ROSE: But do you care that much? Do you, are you so
SCHUMER: About Hillary being elected?
ROSE: No. I know how much you care about that. Youve made that very, very clear.
SCHUMER: Right. About?
ROSE: Do you care about how it affects ticket sales. Or do you, are you
SCHUMER: Not enough to not say it.
ROSE: Exactly.
SCHUMER: Yeah. No, Im gonna say what I mean and what I think, and living the way Im proud of.
ROSE: But, do you really think the people I mean, I think people come to see you because they find you really entertaining, and funny and smart and interesting.
SCHUMER: Right. Thank you.
ROSE: Well, thats true. And your politics are not going to keep them from being entertained by you.
SCHUMER: It
ROSE: It does?
SCHUMER: But it does, somewhat. Yeah. Its people who, you know? Just in the same way if I found out right now that one of my good friends from high school was planning on voting for Trump.
ROSE: You would?
SCHUMER: I would, I would really pull back from the friendship. Thats such a huge thats such a huge line.
ROSE: A value? Its a value defining
SCHUMER: Value, and just
ROSE: Character?
SCHUMER: Yeah. All of it, so, you know, I think, I think that people I think if I kept my mouth shut about my real feelings about politics or gun violence, I think, financially, financially and career-wise, it would be, it would be financially better for me, but I dont care.
Later on in the interview, Schumer gushed over Hillary Clinton:
ROSE: Is your, is your attraction to the candidacy of Hillary more about her or more about and the values and, and the position she has more so than the fact that she is a historic candidacy?
SCHUMER: Oh, yeah. Thats a good way of saying that. I dont care that shes ever gotten her period or had a baby. I care about what a great candidate she is.
ROSE: Because you identify with someone who
SCHUMER: Ive loved her for so long. I have been a fan of hers forever, and I think the work that shes done, and shes so crazy overqualified, and its not because I want a woman in the White House. I really dont care about that. I think thats an exciting thing and that it will be good for little girls and whatever, just in the same way I wasnt interested in the race of Obama. Its like, I wanted him to win. Its, its her.
Obama also got some love from Schumer:
ROSE: How do you think hes [Barack Obama] been as president?
SCHUMER: I love him. Im gonna miss him so much. Im so sad.
ROSE: What are you gonna miss? The style? The, the intelligence?
SCHUMER: His smile. No. His
ROSE: His playlist?
SCHUMER: Yeah, no, I thought his playlist was a little weird.
ROSE: Did you really? Why?
SCHUMER: I dont know. Its just like a little whatever! Thats not whats important. But yeah, Im not a
ROSE: I know its not important but its interesting.
SCHUMER: Yeah. Im not like he can do no wrong. No it was good, he had some DAngelo on there. It was cool, but I just I dont know. It was so all over the place.

And finally, Rose couldnt let the interview finish without nudging Schumer into taking a few parting shots at Trump:
ROSE: Yeah how much of how you feel, politically, is anti-Trump?
SCHUMER: Almost entirely.
ROSE: I mean, I know people they dont really care about him. Its not so much theyre
SCHUMER: No its
ROSE: Theyre not really
SCHUMER: Well who even really knows what he stands for? Its such a
ROSE: Or does he mean what he says?
SCHUMER: Right. Its just a its such a farce. Its, its awful. Its I you know, I felt, I think we all thought it was kind of funny
ROSE: Right.
SCHUMER: when it started. It was like Oh my God, Trump, thats hilarious. And then
ROSE: The man from The Apprentice is going to be president.
SCHUMER: Yeah. And then once it became a reality that he was the candidate, it was just its so disturbing. Its Idiocracy. I don`t even talk about Trump in my stand-up because it just shooting fish in a barrel.
ROSE: Too easy?
Bud Light = stale urine.
The only thing that could help this whale’s career is if she was funny or could act.
In both cases, she’s definitely in the Ben Stiller mold, showing that family ties don’t necessarily translate into talent.
Re : Post #21 ~ SCHUMER: Ive loved her for so long. She is a low-class; unfunny, so-called comedienne who claims to (somehow) be a victim of ‘media bias’.
To say, “... shes so crazy overqualified, and its not because I want a woman in the White House.”
Is that (ridiculous) comment REALLY going to hurt your career?
WHAT CAREER IS THAT? Potty Mouth Skank Who NEVER got a real LAUGH? Your only hope is to join the ranks of O’Donnell, Goldberg, Behar and Ellen Degenerate in the shameful “ has been ‘comics’ who have become militant dykes” movement ~ currently trending... ~
That's part of her standup, right?
“No it [Obama’s playlist] was good, he had some DAngelo on there. It was cool, but I just I dont know. It was so all over the place.”
Kinda like it was maybe cooked up by his staffers?
Is that suppose to be a glam photo shoot? I don’t begrudge large size women. In fact I prefer curves over the anorexic types, but her attitude in the pic holds no interest. A genuine smile would have done wonders and make her more appealing. Still, great hair with the extensions. Yes, I’m going gay enough to recognize them...ha.
Sure Laz would be all over it. Just need to work his way between the 3 bellies. How rude.
I guess she is completely stupid. For comedians, the Obama years have been comedy purgatory. Obummer has been mostly off limits, to the detriment of humor history. As grinding as it was, the President Bush years were comedy heaven for all in her profession. I guess she doesn’t want them to succeed.
She’s a funnier Samantha Bee.
I’m still trying to figure out what makes this skank funny. She is simply a chunky version of Sarah Silverman. It’s the exact same crap that was funny for about 15 minutes in the late 1990s (jaded 20-something gets an abortion type of ‘humor’ + rehashed skits with a woman that looks wrong for a particular role). I suppose the only way you’re gonna like her is if your political masters tell you to like her.
Sure, they occasionally will have a decent joke, or even bit, but being coarse and/or angry does not an entertainer make.
Twenty-five years ago, I read an article that said the market for stand-ups in the US was around 200. Lots of competition for those 200 now plus, spots.
I tried watching Schumer. She doesn't do it for me, but I guess she's doing something (or somebody) right at CBS/Comedy Central.
She’s blaming her non-entity status - as compared to George Carlin, Chris Rock, etc. on the fact she’s a liberal? Well, I guess most losers come up with a justification...
pretty girl says dirty words, that is the gimmick. eventually it wears off
She’s trash
It’s been a while but haven’t Sandler’s movies grossed in the low $B’s?
Yeah, it makes me think about switching to something else. Libtard losers and their loser ideology, I want no part of them. If fact, I see an email to Budweiser in my future.
CGato
Who isn't funnier than Samantha Bee? Bee's shtick is so blatantly crazy far left-wing, I can't find a joke to save my life...and I'm good with making fun of Republicans if it's funny. Jon Stewart was often funny the few times I watched him. This shrill broad is just mean.
We don’t need to import foreign talent like samantha bee and john oliver to be rude liberal asshats. Seems schumer proves that we can grow our own domestically.
That was the joke!
Ugly whore.
And that is one of the nicer things that comes to mind.
