Donald Trump may or may not fix his campaign, and Hillary Clinton may or may not become the first female president. But something else happening before our eyes is almost as important: the complete collapse of American journalism as we know it.
The frenzy to bury Trump is not limited to the Clinton campaign and the Obama White House. They are working hand-in-hand with what was considered the cream of the nations news organizations.
The shameful display of naked partisanship by the elite media is unlike anything seen in modern America.
The largest broadcast networks CBS, NBC and ABC and major newspapers like The New York Times and Washington Post have jettisoned all pretense of fair play. Their fierce determination to keep Trump out of the Oval Office has no precedent.
Indeed, no foreign enemy, no terror group, no native criminal gang, suffers the daily beating that Trump does. The mad mullahs of Iran, who call America the Great Satan and vow to wipe Israel off the map, are treated gently by comparison.
By torching its remaining credibility in service of Clinton, the mainstream medias reputations will likely never recover, nor will the standards. No future producer, editor, reporter or anchor can be expected to meet a test of fairness when that standard has been trashed in such willful and blatant fashion.

And yet ANOTHER attempt to change the subject from the Media, to my particular posting.
What's up with you, Ben?
Don't you want to see the beatdown get put on the Media?
The Fabulists are revealing themselves left and Left. This is GLORIOUS.
Strange that YOU are not revelling in this good news...
The dissonant posts on this thread are interesting, aren’t they?
Yeah - so what? Journalist are suppose to cover stuff... They’re just suppose to COVER BOTH SIDES.
Never heard of that. What are you going to do about Fox. Or the fact that Henry K called Trump a liar.
Up yours, Media Death Star. :)
So why give them notice, or bandwidth?
Somebody missed the ‘70’s when the media was out in force to get Nixon so the public wouldn’t find out about the DNC’s prostitution operation in DC.
At least you have Notso-BrightBart on your side.
"your side"? Interesting choice of words, Ben.
Isn't it "our side"? :)
Of course, I've noticed that you've been contributing heavily to the Media's side on this thread.
But you're kind of light on contributing to my side, if you know what I mean... :)
Yeah, you've ALWAYS had an interesting posting history, Ben Ficklin - and other FR histories, also. :)
And your truck comes with a security system, I see.
As for me being on the side of the media, I don't have access to most on that list you posted above because I don't have a TV connection.
I have only limited access to WaPo and NYT because they limit the number articles that I can read without paying.
But I do read the AP Texas wire everyday.
You're more interested in opinion and I am more interested in news. Republicans have always been more concerned with opinion because they are always seeking validation and they used to say about the rightwing media that there were too many George Wills and not enough Bob Novaks.
Trump should announce he will revoke the broadcast license’s and sell them to someone new and the current reporters are fired. Require that all news stories give who, what, where, why and when in the first paragraph of reporting.
Wide shots of any incidents so they cannot start a narrative.
xlnt
I agree with all except for the ‘why’. that is usually the opinion.
On this thread, I'm interested in bashing the Media. I'm also interested in why you don't appear to be contributing to "our side".
It's going to be more than two years before your 20th FR anniversary, boyo. Don't get ahead of yourself. Mine's only 7 or 8 months from now. As you know, a lot of us went by our real names in those days. I'm "incognito" these days. :)

I posted ONE link to Froma Harridan, and you extrapolate that to I'm "more interested in opinion". I've been ignoring the bespectacled surrender monkey George Will for more than a decade, now, for example.
I hate most "journalists" equally - ESPECIALLY the ones purporting to report "hard news".
You'll always find the EJ Dionnes hanging off the posteriors of Democrat politicians like lampreys - they're a dime a dozen.
No, the REAL threat is the cockroaches like the ones at the Times and the Post like Adam Nagourney and former "reporter" Nicholas Kristof, antigunner supreme, and Clinton spearcatcher during the impeachment wars.

You're definitely not trying hard enough. 2nd computer, a tablet, 2nd or 3rd browser... LOL! :)
No the situation is that I have other interests beside politics.
For me Free Republic is a news index. It saves me time in identifying subjects. Its not a place where I get my information.
And sometimes I chat a little, mostly with malcontents like you
And sometimes I chat with people who are here for the free news, like you. :)
Well if you don’t like it, ban me.
“The shameful display of naked partisanship by the elite media is unlike anything seen in modern America.”
I disagree. I first saw them do it in the 1980s, and have seen it on many occasions since.
They’ve been this bad for a long time. It seems that their cover is finally blown.
