Eighteen-year-old waitress Sadie Elledge was working the lunch shift at Jess Lunch, in Harrisonburg, Virginia when a couple, in lieu of a tip, left a message on their receipt that said, We only tip citizens. Sadie, whose father was born in Honduras and mother in Mexico, is, in fact, a U.S. citizen who grew up in Harrisonburg. Ive had people make comments like Go make me a burrito, but thats at school and I dont pay attention, said Sadie, adding that the insult wasnt that big a deal to her. But when her grandfather, John Elledge, heard of the incident through another one of his granddaughters, he decided he wasnt going to stand for it.

How many times does this have to be published, and then find out it’s yet again another fraud playing the victim card?
Let me guess, they have a GoFundMe page set up already.
I also don’t believe it. Cooked up for attention. Next will be a visit to the White House.
Some chick gets a nasty note and it makes national news????
I agree——bull**** !
.
Why would the police have to go looking up the customer who wrote that note? She didn’t say anything harmful, she was just being honest. I’m not even sure if she wrote the note at all. The girl’s grandfather said ‘he wasn’t going to stand for it.” Not stand for what? Another fake pity party.
This was very common for a while maybe four years ago. Back then it was mostly lesbian waitresses who were making stuff up.
What is with these lying POS lib waiters? Cant you just do your job, F up our orders, smile and pretend it wasn’t your fault, blame the cook, take our tips, and STFU?
Interesting.....
if the customer did or didn’t write it, she also didn’t leave a tip.
She is gonna need those GoFundMe dollars after the lawsuit Ada will file!
doh ! she could have left a cash tip on the table.
never mind
Here’s a tip for you sweetie: go visit whatever part of Hispania you wish to call your ancestral home, and see how much people who work there get in tips. Then come back to the US and realize that tipping is optional, people are jerks sometimes, and you need to grow up. All part of the freedom you enjoy as a US citizen!
But, better at 18 than at 28.
New York Times people, New York Times ......
Creeping totalitarianism, brought into effect by special snowflakes.
I could see if the girl had an unintelligible accent, but since she doesn’t, how would the customers know if she was an illegal ? This doesn’t pass the smell test.
It’s always the liberal “victims” that do this. Remember the lesbian waitress tried the exact same thing?
Even if it’s real, how can it be considered national news that in a country of 300 million people, one of them was rude to another?
I went to college in Harrisonburg. The only thing that could possibly be worse than eating at Jess’s Quick Lunch is working there.
This was posted earlier. Apparently the customer called the cops and had them come to the restaurant with her. She said she signed the receipt, all right, but didn’t leave the note.
I leave nice tips, but it never shows up on the receipt. I give the cash directly to the server. So they know I appreciated their service and they dont have to report it.
So nothing unusual here.
