BUSHNELL (FOX 13) - A Sumter County man says he is unfairly being charged with violating the state's alligator poaching law after he tried to protect his livestock.

Reginald Blanton of Bushnell said an alligator was in the field with his horses on the night of June 21. His son, Jack Hildreth, tried to scare it away, but that didn't work. So Blanton fired a shot at it, trying to get it to leave.

But the state attorney in Sumter County said Blanton went too far.

You can’t SSS when your kid spends 10 days in the hospital after an attack that was likely provoked by your actions.

Animal control agent here says the law states if the animal is worried you may take action. He said he defines worried broadly.

The state attorney in Sumter county went too far; when the end comes I will not shed a tear for whatever barbarity comes to these people and their families. In my state I’ve seen similar cases of dangerous animals to include rattlesnakes, bear, etc. being a clear and direct threat to children and pets with same outcome by cold-hearted lawyers. A man should be able to protect his family, livestock and property without reservation against dangerous creatures.

Time for jury nullification.

If your dog threatens his horse, he can shoot him.

Since when has a wild animal become more valuable than your dog or my horse?

We have bone mad.

If a car runs over the state attorney in Sumter County, I say jury nullification for whomever ran him over.

Having kept bad company as an egg, he was a good young gator just trying to get his life together.

The state attorney in Sumter county should be shunned by all his friends, co-workers, and anyone in the general public he interacts with, and even some of his more sane family members. Let him know what he has done is not at all appreciated.

So the blonde flipped the gator over with the barrel of her shotgun, looked it over and said, “Damn. This one’s not wearing shoes either.”
