I feel sorry for the Venezuelan people, but Im perversely glad that the country is collapsing.
Thats because its nice to have proof that Margaret Thatcher was right when she famously warned that the problem with socialism is that you eventually run out of other peoples money.
To be sure, we already had proof from Greece, France, the Soviet Union, Brazil, and many other places. But its still nice to have another piece of evidence that big government eventually produces very dire results.

“They always point to Sweden”
Sweden is not Socialists. It’s actually a free market economy mixed with a large welfare state. Works for a while until the funds dry up. And all the stats you hear regarding a great quality of life are exaggerated. Big problems with drug addictions there among other things.

It’s because we didn’t send them enough aid money, that’s why ... otherwise it would be fine.
There is no way a person should be glad at what is happening to the Venezuelan people
Is this the conservative version of ‘dont let a good crisis go to waste’
if a person is perversely glad, they should keep to themselves...especially if they want to be distinguished from liberals who are always glad when people suffer
Why do we continue to allow our schools to teach that it will?
Why is the US not imprisoning it's advocates?
Because it's still a free country and we don't arrest people for their opinions.
What if a stated opinion is seditious? Is not a political ideology advocating Revolution and changing form of government against the law anymore? Or is the blood price only paid when the Lavoy Finicum’s of America rail against the incremental creep of big government?
I will bet that Maduros bank account is doing well, wherever it is.
we were given the right to keep and bear arms....... but will we use them?
It is worth noting that Marx never had a real job but bummed off of his friends and relatives pretty much his whole life.
Except for the paychecks Karl Marx collected from Horace Greeley, Abraham Lincoln patron and Republican Party founder. Greeley published Marx in America’s leading newspaper for years.
And it only worked in the first place because until very recently the entire dang nation was whiter than the cast of Leave it to Beaver. That part must’ve been nice. But recent Muslim infiltration - I mean immigration - blew that pillar out from under them real quick.
Oh yeah, and they have virtually no military presence in the world anywhere at all. Enough to possibly deter an invading force there at home and that’s it.
I love quoting myself:
The primary beneficiaries of a socialist program are the socialist politicians. The secondary are the bureaucracies, and tertiaries are the supposed recipients. Everything after is fluff.
No, not unless you act on it or actively plan to do so. It never has been. The communist party has never been outlawed. Beliefs and opinions, however wrong, are not crimes. Thank God. Remember the hysteria about "anti-government militias"? The left would love to have such laws on the books to use against their opponents.
We disagree. When my father had cancer, I was glad when he found out what was wrong and went in for surgery and chemo. The cancer was bad news, but recognizing it and getting rid of it was a good thing given that the cancer was there - a nightmare that was better than waiting even longer before addressing the problem. With Venezuela's socialism, the problem was also already there and the misery was inevitable. The longer the fix is delayed, the worse it will be, so going through the economic crisis now, miserable as that is, will be better than the alternative.
Oh I’d say the socialists have done a bit more than plan.
