Bruna Castro-Ruiz, 28, says she saw part of what unfolded early Sunday at a gas station in Rio, as Lochte and his teammates headed back to the Olympic village. (She says she has already spoken to police about what she saw.) Lochte has said the foursome was robbed at gunpoint after stopping at the gas station on the taxi ride home – an account he has changed slightly from earlier versions given to media. But local police later told PEOPLE that one of the swimmers in the group was seen on security video allegedly damaging a bathroom at the gas station, and that the swimmers gave over their wallets as payment for the incident.

There are supposedly three (3) minutes missing from the gas station security tape released by the Brazilians.
Where is that missing videotape, and what’s on it?
Also, they showed a video tape on the news that show one of the swimmers exiting the cab at the gas station with his hands up.
Exactly my position. As with the Kobe Bryant rape case, I believe both parties were presenting the story from their own perspective, and neither one was lying. They just interpreted the events in very different ways.
This business of someone pointing a gun at you and demanding money appears to an American very much like an armed robbery.
Accepting such a thing as a normal way of doing things would be a complete cultural disconnect for an American.

And you think it is unusual that someone might remember an incident in which someone cocks a gun and points it at their head?
What is the matter with you? Having someone point a gun at me would certainly sober me up pretty D@mn quick. Have you ever suddenly been confronted with the possibility of your imminent death?

The video does not clearly show anything. You can see men with their hands up, and you can see someone behind them that may or may not be holding a gun, but that is all you can see.
The fact that they have their hands up implies that there was a gun pointed at them.
And we have a witness (other than themselves) that has confirmed it.
That's my take too, though the Brazilians admitted to pulling on gun on them when they became belligerent.
Paying off police is the norm throughout Latin America, if you're pulled over for a traffic violation in Mexico, you're more or less expected to bribe the police officer. Crooked and corrupt? Sure. That doesn't mean that the Olympian's side of the story about an unprovoked hold-up is true either or that I'm in any hurry to defend our people when they act like British soccer hooligans.

Ignoring is closer to what I did. I didn't bother with it because I consider it irrelevant to the fact that the man was pointing a gun at them and any reasonable person would conclude they were being shaken down.
Your worries about the timeline do not impact the essential facts of the case.

Hard to imagine what one could do to a third world gas station bathroom to “destroy” it. I frankly, am surprised anyone could tell the difference.
In regard to #3 the difference is hat day of the week it is in many cases.

They show them at a gas station when Lochte said they were pulled over on the road....
They show them at the gas station after 6AM when Lochte said he had returned around 4 AM.
No he didn’t lie. He was robbed at gun point...
