It’s sick. When I was in Germany I learned to speak German.
I go to Lowe’s and Home Depot where everything is labeled in English and Spanish, and start speaking fake Spanish to the old White guys. They hold up a finger and indicate to me to wait, then start to scurry off to find the one Spanish speaker in the stare. That’s when I start laughing and call them back in English and tell them I was just fooling around. Most of them have laughed with me!

Good for you. It’s called respect for the people in the country where you are a guest - something it seems a lot of people don’t have much of anymore.
Read an interesting comment made by someone in an article I was reading about the people who go to the beaches in Rio. This person said they could tell when people were from the U.S. because they picked up their trash as they were leaving and took it with them.
