(CNN)Florida Sen. Marco Rubio is standing by his description of Donald Trump as "a con artist," but he says in a new interview he still plans to support the real estate mogul for president.
"I've stood by everything I ever said in my campaign," Rubio told the Miami Herald editorial board Monday when asked about his comments made during the Republican presidential primary earlier this year.
He said the race is "in a different place now" -- with voters facing a "binary choice" between Trump and Hillary Clinton. "In our republic, while the presidency is powerful, there is a balance of power in this country, and a significant amount of it resides in the United States Senate," Rubio said. "It's one of the reasons why I seek to run again."

Go back to the foam party and shut up.
You can’t straddle that fence that way Rubio...
This type of “support” is of questionable value.
Trump for President.
“.. and a significant amount of it resides in the United States Senate”
Or, rather, in their POCKETS.
The Rube is just projecting. His career as a national politician is OVER.
Some guys are just to thick. He was beaten by an amateur badly. A rookie kicked his ass all over the court. And the rookie did it with small hands. Marco shut up.
I do believe Rubio is the one who conned his voters in Florida.
Won’t be voting for you again, Rube.
Small hands.
That’ll be Con Artist In Chief to you, Rube.
The little fenocchio ...
The only little con artist is Rubio
He promised the people of Florida that if they elected him he would fight for our rights against Obama’s agenda.
He collected his pay check and skipped out every time he was suppose to vote to defend us against Obama’s agenda.
Well, he can if he doesn't have any testicles...
Epic fail, Little Marco.
This is the kind of nonsense is why I refuse to donate to the GOP. If their candidates despise people like me, they don’t deserve my money.
Rubio swings both ways...
Just like in other aspects of his life.
The Rube stands by everything he said in his campaign, huh. Except for that little part about not running for reelection to his Senate seat.
What a Wuss.
I doubt that he will be re-elected. He got a lot of votes the last time that he won’t get this time. Mine included.
