Report: Former Fox News chief Roger Ailes to prep Donald Trump for the debates

Former Fox News Chairman and CEO Roger Ailes will prepare Republican presidential nominee Donald Trump for the presidential debates, according to a Tuesday report in The New York Times.

The Times reported that Ailes had transitioned almost immediately from his role as CEO into a new, informal job advising Trump as he prepares for the first presidential debate on September 26.

The former Fox News chief made a name for himself in politics as a Republican communications adviser who helped prepare past presidential candidates including George H.W. Bush.

Ailes resigned from Fox News amid an ongoing internal investigation into his conduct, prompted by a lawsuit from former Fox News host Gretchen Carlson, who is one of several former Fox News employees who have accused him of sexual harassment.

I won't get involved in the current skirmish, other than to note that I know far more about our friends in the Media than most people on this site.

That's a plus.  Good.

If I were Donald Trump, what I would have done is spent wheelbarrows of cash digging up dirt on enough various Media figures to launch strategic depth charges when the time came, after softening up the target(s). Donald Trump is smarter than I am. I have NO idea what he's up to - but I'm crossing my fingers that it's a doozy.

I don't think that's a bad idea at all.  As for what Trump is up to, I'm glad he's playing it close to the vest.  The man wants to win, and that's a dramatic improvement over the last two characters who got the nod.

I don't know about the Ailes selection. Ailes could be a Ratfink, or not.

Exactly!  Due to his true motives being impossible to determine about 85 days away from the election, I urge Trump not to use him.

I am not a person who comes here to micro-manage what Trump is up to.  This is one of the few times I have voiced a difference of opinion with him.

Folks, this is war.  Trump is bringing in a person who was his political enemy just months ago.  The stakes are too high for that.

Time will tell. Both Trump and Ailes have a lot to lose in this partnership.

Once again, you're exactly right.  Trump has a lot to lose.  So does the nation.  So do the citizens of our nation.  The very life of our nation depends on Trump being successful in November.  I urge him not to take a chance on Ailes.  That's all.  It's not a put-down of him.  It's not disrespectful of him.  It only expresses an appreciation for him, and a desire to avoid anything that could hurt his chances in any way.

I can't believe that the Hand of Providence, and by extension our Creator, is going to desert us in this, our time of need.

What I can believe, is that God can also shake His head in disbelief, that we could be so dumb as to do some of the things we do.  Man has free will.  God can help line up the dominos, but if man decides to remove five of them, they won't fall the way they were intended to.  We have to play smart, not take chances.  This is our last shot.

If Trump fails pushing this agenda, it will be 30 years before things will align again.  This is a very critical time nearing the stretch of this race.

Of course, our Creator might just give us the task of taking the trash bags out to the curb ourselves. :)

That's what we're doing, unless you're inference is a bit different than I read into it.  We are taking out the trash, and it is vital we do this by the book with Trump.  I do not want to have to take out the trash any other way.

I appreciate your post.  I'm not trying to give you a hard time here.  I don't really disagree with you anywhere here.  I used your comments to more clearly express my opinions.

Take care.

It's simply not worth dealing with your drama queen crap.

You lie like a rug and mischaracterize most things, so why bother?

You started this adversarial thing about this issue, and for no good reason. It was the tiniest of disagreements, over a nothing burger and you make it life and death. Just like you shrieked like a little girl about me not supporting Cruz early on. And yes, you were wrong about that, and you were wrong about Palin, and you lied about her for years. There's really something wrong with your synapse connections.

Enough, you really need to take a deep breath and realize you brought this rant of mine towards you all on yourself, and deservedly so.

Go ahead, post whatever hyperbolic crap you think you need to (in blue), but I'm sick of your nonsense and won't post to you again until you apologize for being such an ass. Have at it.

Just in case you don't remember, you and I had a several day war with this poster d1 over his claims that she was an amnesty queen. This was barely two years ago.

He posted over and over again the univision interview while she was veep candidate, and a jaded O'REilly interview of one sound bite.

You made a fool of him with her own actual positions since her days as veep candidate, as I did.

Because I had been fighting his stupidity and making him out as a tool on this issue for many years (he apparently still is if you read his last blue post to me), he comes after me as if I was a member of DU. You should have seen his anger towards me when I wouldn't join the Cruz crew early on, it was epic. Three paragraphs of totally blue bullshit spittle.

That's why he's into this little war, it's over Palin, not debate prep.

It really is a nothing burger issue here, but he loves to lash reflexively for our past postings.

Trish Regan is so much better than Megyn.

I don’t know what to make of the Trump/Ailes thing. If Ailes had any problems with legitimate sexual harassment at Fox resulting in Andrea Tantaros leaving, Trump doesn’t need to align with him. Just MHO...

I would be very happy to see Trish Regan take over Kelly’s time slot.

If Meg does return I expect her to be sporting longer hair.

It's simply not worth dealing with your drama queen crap.

And yet, here you are...

You lie like a rug and mischaracterize most things, so why bother?

Rugs can't lie, so yes, I lie like a rug.  Thank you.  You'll have to answer that one sparky.

You started this adversarial thing about this issue, and for no good reason.

This was the first comment between us.  Guess who initiated it.  LINK

It was the tiniest of disagreements, over a nothing burger and you make it life and death.

We've already established the fact you can't grasp this issue.  No need to pile on yourself like this.

Just like you shrieked like a little girl about me not supporting Cruz early on.

I don't believe I ever addressed you on the issue of support for Cruz, but if I did it would have been with specific reasons.  If that's your perception of what littel girls do, then thank you.

And yes, you were wrong about that, and you were wrong about Palin, and you lied about her for years.

I wasn't wrong about that, and I wasn't wrong about Palin.  Palin participated in interviews where she specifically advocated for registering and remaining in place.  This conversation isn't about Sarah, but you being wrong on the main topic left you no choice but to try to change the subject, and alas you picked one where you are also wrong.  Recapping, you've brought Cruz and Palin into this.  The topic was Trump bringing in Ailes for advice.  I disagreed.

There's really something wrong with your synapse connections.

Thanks.  I appreciate your Joe Paluka degree in medicine, but I'm managing to survive with my (lack of) infirmity.

Enough, you really need to take a deep breath and realize you brought this rant of mine towards you all on yourself, and deservedly so.

Yes, you're ranting.  Nothing of what you have said here is true.  When you came close, you actually mischaracterize and wound up being more untruthful.  Sad, when all you had to do was admit Ailes is a high risk individual.

Go ahead, post whatever hyperbolic crap you think you need to (in blue), but I'm sick of your nonsense and won't post to you again until you apologize for being such an ass. Have at it.

You want an apology?  Okay, well I am sorry.  I am sorry you have made a fool out of yourself once again.

You poor thing.

DO: Don't do the blue posting thing with me.

It annoys me, as you were fond of doing it in the "small" past flamewar that Lakeshark mentioned.

I might bother to read your post, but I might not.

I switched off at the blue print. :)

Lakeshark: How could I forget? Palin IS The Woman, just as Trump is The Man. :)

I post in different colors because it makes it easier for people to know exactly who said what at a glance.  If this disturbs you, it disturbs you.

I might bother to read your post, but I might not.

It's okay if you do.  It's okay if you don't.  I understand and it won't bother me..

Okay...

If you guys would lik to discuss Palin, why not start a thread about Palin.

This thread is about Roger Ailes and Trump's reported plan to have him help advise his team.  I have posted reasons why I think that is a bad idea.

Yes, Trump is the man.

Palin was her own worst enemy in radio and television interviews.

I thought you could be civil, after your sterling performance during the FR nightly primaries.

Apparently not. I'm not interested in your thoughts.

Please don't post to me any more.

He posted something to me (I saw blue, LOL).

I will not read it.

The guy has a screw loose. He actually believes he's the smartest guy here, while forgetting just how wrong he's been, and how often. I wish I could find his angry rant at me for not unconditionally supporting Cruz early on. It's one of the most embarrassing things I've ever seen written on FR.

I thought you could be civil, after your sterling performance during the FR nightly primaries.

Hmm, following you so far.

Apparently not.

I post in color, so I am not civil.  Not there's an observation that I am certain will stand the test of time.  /s

I'm not interested in your thoughts.

It doesn't really matter to me if you are or not.  What an inflated ego you have.

Please don't post to me any more.

Don't post to me, and I'm sure you'll be shocked that I don't post to you.

BTW: As for Sarah Palin backing amnesty or not, I listened to an intervew she did in 2008.  In that interview she stated:

1. Illegals have to play by the rules
2. Illegals should be able to register so they would be playing by the rules
3. If they registered they could stay in place and work

You evidently didn't hear the interview and that's okay.  She still said that in the interview, and the following conclusions are not only reasoned, but unavoidable.

1. The rules can be changed for illegals
2. They should be able to register
3. Their registration would in an instant change their status to legal
4. They would be able to remain in the United States and work
legally

Oh my gosh!  You're not going to read my post?  What will I ever do?  LMAO

The guy has a screw loose.

And yet you can't find any evidence of it to link us to.

He actually believes he's the smartest guy here, while forgetting just how wrong he's been, and how often.

Okay, then it should be easy for you.  Find and post a link to three posts I've made that are wrong.

I wish I could find his angry rant at me for not unconditionally supporting Cruz early on.

You can't find it, because I never backed Ted for anything other than the V.P. slot, and even then I abandoned that after October last year.  I urge to do one of two things.  Find and link to a post where I demeaned you for not backing Cruz, or stop saying that I did.

I would have had no reason to trash you for not supporting Cruz.  Your claim is a pure fabrication.

It's one of the most embarrassing things I've ever seen written on FR.

Except you didn't see it.  I never gave you a hard time for not supporting Cruz.

This is such familiar ground with you.  These are the same types of unhinged posts I've had you post to me for over a decade now.
