It was rare for us to see him in the mornings, says Brunhilde Pomsel, her eyes closed and chin in her hand as she recalls her former boss. Hed walk up the steps from his little palace near the Brandenburg Gate, on to which his huge propaganda ministry was attached. Hed trip up the steps like a little duke, through his library into his beautiful office on Unter den Linden.
She smiles at the image, noting how elegant the furniture was, the carefree atmosphere where she sat in an ante-chamber off Joseph Goebbels office with five other secretaries, how his nails were always neatly manicured.
We always knew once he had arrived, but we didnt normally see him until he left his office, coming through a door that led directly into our room, so we could ask him any questions we had, or let him know who had called. Sometimes, his children came to visit and were so excited to visit Daddy at his work. They would come with the familys lovely Airedale. They were very polite and would curtsy and shake our hands.

“I just laid the morning propaganda programs on the people.”
“You’re putting me on! What did they say?”
“I told the people we invaded England!”
“That’s a groove, daddy! How did we come out?”
“We beat ‘em, baby!”
“Groovy! That’s my Joe! That’s my little Joe.
HOW UTTERLY FAMILIAR.
He made Uncle Leo’s hamburger, too.
That’s why I’m actually kind of amazed she is still alive today. At the time Berlin surrendered to the Red Army, her close association with Goebbels could have been enough to get her tried, convicted and possibly executed as a Nazi war criminal.

Yes, but he was lame, so he must have “tripped” in an odd manner...
“F__k the huns.”
“Sometimes, his children came to visit and were so excited to visit Daddy at his work.”
How sweet. Of course, he had those same children poisoned, so they wouldn’t have to live in a post-nazi world (which would have been too terrible for them to endure...)
They could still be alive today except for his political insanity.
She probably ran the whole show. Just like Jennifer Marlowe at WKRP.
The propaganda was just really good.
And the American state is much, much better at propaganda than the Nazis.
‘Political insanity’ is rather a kind term to use to describe someone who murdered five of his kids isn’t it?
Maybe she didn’t know about Auschwitz, but she knew about Krystallnacht, the Nuremberg Laws, etc.
IIRC, it was the mother, Magda Goebbels, who made the decision to off her children rather than let them live in a post-Nazi world.
In most “Bunker” films the eldest girl knows the score & is force-fed the poisoned chocolate.
Sickening to recall even now.
uh...
I think the BEST propaganda is ...the current MSM.
Russia with old Joe was pretty good- BUT...
He had HELP from the New York Times!
So that disqualifies them-and moves us to the top LOL
That’s what I was referring to.
That’s what I was referring to.
State does not equal government.
A good part of the human race is not necessarily bad but they are weak.
Get them in a group with leaders who are evil and they will take the path of least resistance and do deeds of horrifying evil.
Add in the people who are disinclined to do anything because, "they don't really mean it", those who see evil coming and piously say that we should just "depend on God" and those who are evil inclined and you have a firm majority.
The people who are the opposition also have to deal with those "on their side" who are pouting because they didn't get to lead the parade, their personal issue is not being addressed in just the right manner or they don't like the curtains in the meeting room.
