MILWAUKEE (AP) — Milwaukee police say both the man whose fatal shooting sparked violent protests in the city and the police officer who shot him are black.
Chief Edward Flynn made the disclosure at a news conference Sunday. Flynn identified the man killed Saturday as 23-year-old Sylville K. Smith, and says Smith had a “lengthy arrest record.”
Mayor Tom Barrett says a still image pulled from the officer’s body camera shows “without question” that Smith had a gun in his hand when he was shot.

I'm not a policeman hater. Those guys have a tough job. ALL of the guys I work with are retired or former cops or retired Federal agents.

FWIW, tonight CBS Evening News did a segment on this. I caught a quick glimpse of a group of (actual) protesters all waving professionally printed signs that said “WE WANT JUSTICE” or something like that.
This shooting was Saturday afternoon, and here we are less than 24 hours later with a bunch of signs. Somebody paid for them and got them distributed nice and quick.
The animals don’t care. Any excuse to steal and destroy is good enough.
