They should release the body cam footage. If the guy was running, with the gun out, then turned and pointed at the officer, then we know it was a life and death situation.
This would go a long way in preventing the spool up of protests and violence.
If the body cam shows different, such as no gun out, then they need to arrest the officer which again would go along way to stopping these riots.
The people believe the police are getting away with murder. Show them they are not, or if they are murdering show that justice will be served.
This is not far removed from the “Hindu-Muslim riots” I am familiar with (mostly started by violent Muslim extremists, sociopathic in nature, and which of course such violence will eventually result in violent backlash).
