I'm glad Trump isn't listening to advice, and is campaigning in every state! CT is a perfect example of why.

CT is a well-educated state, with a situation where it has been decimated by the actions of both political parties. They didn't take the loss of manufacturing seriously enough, instead let gambling balance their budget until out-of-state competition and a general decline in gambling revenue shattered that piggy bank. The state is so bad, it's in a death spiral. Trump has strong ties to CT, and Manafort is from there. Manafort's Route 8 strategy for the primary was brilliant! Put it all together, and I'd think logically Trump can win in CT. (I hope someone in the campaign reads this stuff I post),

I'm from Danbury/Bethel, HS in the early 1960s. It is a traumatic experience to pass through "home" and see the decimation that's happened to what was once a wonderful place to grow up in!

I worked their in the 80's and 90's. CT is a shell of it's former self. I hear the whole former Combustion Engineering Campus is literally gone and re-purposed. Before that company was bought and resold a billion times it was on the NYSE. Dang shame, some of the greatest design and engineering talent in the Country IMHO, were in CT to name some of the firms; Pratt, Hamilton Std, Kaman, Sikorsky, Combustion Engineering, and lets not forget on the cutting edge Gerber Scientific. Some are still their, downsized, right sized, bla-bla-bla, but it ain't the same....

I see you did the opposite of me. You grew up in CT and moved to MA. I grew up in MA and now live here in CT. When I relocated here, the local realtor steered me to Danbury but it was just too "rough around the edges" for me. There were some nice deals there but many surrounding neighborhoods were run down and in some parts of Danbury, it's like being in a foreign country. Overall a nice city but seems to be going downhill.

I did put an offer on a house in Bethel but it fell through. The owner insisted on being present during our inspection and followed us around the house, trying to rush us and making excuses for anything the inspector pointed out, that just gave me bad vibes so we backed out.

Found a real nice place in further up Route 302 in Newtown - which was devastated by Sandy Hook so deals were to be had - many people wanting to move out. It turned out to be a good choice, very nice people here in Newtown and definitely on the conservative side. The commute to NYC though...wow! But I have settled into a routine and now like my commute. Most of it is on the Metro North railroad and I've gotten a lot of books read and a lot of Freeping done on those long train rides! Sometimes I even get to sip on a can of beer on the way home.

Anyway, both MA and CT states are liberal hellholes but conservatives abound nonetheless. We are just outnumbered by the big cities. I hate it when Freepers who don't know the area automatically assume that anybody living in the Northeast are liberals. I would say 40-45% of the population are on the right. But those big cities just cancel us out and then some. The only long term solution is for conservative politicians to start campaigning in these areas instead of just writing them off like they usually do. I'm happy to see Trump coming to CT. Some say it's a waste of time. I say it's high time we started making some inroads.
