Theres something in the water in Rio and its getting worse.
The Olympic diving pool was closed Friday morning as the water continues to be a disturbing, murky shade of green. The concern for those who have been diving into the pool has grown as the problem persists.

Some have speculated algae in the warm outdoor pool could be the issue, while The Sun has helpfully ruled out excessive pee as a potential source of the change. A spokesman for the International Swimming Federation told the Los Angeles Times there was a chemical issue with the tanks, though that would do little to explain one German diver describing the odor in the air at the outdoor aquatic center.

Stink bombs are Butyric acid, which smells like barf, not $hit.
Too much cl or cl2 can be as big a problem as to little.
Go over the amount needed to sanitize and you create to many chloramines. They don’t sanitize properly and can cause a lot of odor and taste problems.
Sounds like these guys just need to hire a COMPETENT pool operator who understands the water chemistry balance for swimming pools.
Ah, thanks. Well, at least that part still stood out!
lol
Actually met some Portuguese sailors while visiting a Christian outreach mission in Alabama. Drove those guys back down to the docks so they could board their ship.
Couldn’t understand a thing they said but when I changed radio stations I understood they were quite displeased.
BION, actually got to preach the Gospel to them and others through a Portuguese translator. That was a first and only time for me. I had forgotten about that until you mentioned ‘Portuguese’ so thanks!
“We ordered Chlorine, not Melamine!”
His first major slapdown. Just the look on his and Moochs faces were priceless. You could see just how much they could not stand the other when stuff wasnt just handed to them.
Sounds like the Brazilians need a competent pool water chemist.
Pee! They’re not in the pool that long!
Even easier are the fully automatic systems. There are sensore in the water flow to the pumps that measure chlorine levels. Chlorine is injected into the flow as needed.
The ONLY problem is allowing the drum of industrial grade bleach to run dry.
And algaecide is highly recommended in warm and heavy use areas. Once black algae gets a hold, it must be manually removed, no excuse for green algae these days.
Cue photo of Bill Murray biting Baby Ruth bar in pool.
Because nobody in all of history ever tried to sanitize and filter a swimming pool.
Dang! Beat again...
Tends to do that to bleached blondes. Does he bleach his hair? It was doing that in the '70s and '80s when I was swimming in our local, safe and clean pools.
20-30 years from now, many former Olympic divers will all come down with a mysterious green puss disease.
Agent Green.
I think Lochte did bleach his hair. His hair was brown in the Opening Ceremony.
Selenium.
I wonder how all those resorts all over the world in really hot places keep their pools crystal clear with all those tourists in them? Maybe someone in charge at the Olympics should ask them.
It’s not rocket science.
I looked up why blonde hair turned green in pools. Chlorine or bleach is not the culprit, copper is. Copper and sulfates, actually. It actually turns everyone's hair green, but it's noticeable on blondes, and lighter hair colors.
