In most respects, the roommate-wanted notice seemed routine. Three students at the Claremont colleges in Southern California were looking for a fourth this summer to join them in an off-campus house. They added a caveat in parentheses: “POC only,” they said, using a common abbreviation for people of color.
When a classmate challenged that condition, the Pitzer College student who posted the notice on Facebook pushed back. “It’s exclusive [because] I don’t want to live with any white folks,” wrote Karé Ureña, who is black.
The online comments touched off a debate this week over race at Pitzer and neighboring colleges, one that flared into national headlines after the Claremont Independent student magazine wrote about it.
To some, Ureña’s request was completely understandable following a racially charged year when many students of color had demanded more support from the administration. To others, it was simple racism to exclude potential roommates based on skin color.

This attitude is on display with BLM everyday, it is evident in the knockout game, it is evident in the entertainment business and one side is viciously pushing the agenda.
Are we doomed to repeat this nightmare, the social disorder and unrest, the hatred every fifty years?
We have a people in the US that have been taught, even indoctrinated to believe that all whites are the oppressors, racists, murderers or enablers. No amount of reparations or apologies is going to change that.
Let us have serious dialog about how we stop the inevitable bloody conflict that WILL come if we do not agree that we cannot coexist and would both be better off geographically separated.
Yeah, you'd need it. Instead you'd have to make up some PC-acceptable fairy tale about the person. e.g, "Loud music (can't say rap) late at night."
I can only assume that feelings such as hers, considering the strident tone and lack of civility, is in all probability not mutually exclusive.
It is something akin to a ‘Beware of Vicious Dog” sign. Not only that but non-POC’s as a show of thankfulness ought to take Ms. Manners out for a happy meal.
POC have been turned into a government-certified victim group that can do no wrong. It is not subject to the laws that apply to everyone else. It is allowed to discriminate against Whites.

so setting aside there are 6 times as many POC 'worlds' as 'white-centric' worlds...........is the next step for these little snowflakes segregated work environments? POC on one side of the office, white folk on the other? I'm disappointed in the college staff because indulging the Myth of systemic racism to the point of defending violation of the EOand Housing Act, does absolutely nothing to prepare these children for the real world, sitting in a real office in a real company that doesn't give a twit whether about their SJW status or whether they're a snowflake or not.

Oh hell, I never let that stop me before. The fact that this ad sparked a controversy, and not outrage is proof that we are screwed! Place a similar ad but replace POC with White and you'd be expelled almost immediately and every jackass administrator at that damned place would be fighting for TV cameras and microphones to condemn the racist who placed the ad. Disgusting!
As a result, black people have learned to think of themselves as inferior and act inferior, and continue to vote for their Democrat Massas.
Can you imagine the national uproar if someone posted an ad seeking a roommate and said “must be white” or “whites only need apply”? Crikey!
Might not be the same, but the laws make no exception for it besides roommates seeking roommates of the same sex in shared housing.
