Especially since the Subway store cameras caught their employee specifically tampering with this particular drink before subsequent delivery to the customer.
This will not likely be the crime of the century.

Sometimes a cigar is just a cigar.
We are likely not dealing with a sandwich-making employee who researches cures for cancer, diabetes, and heart disease during his time away from work.

As I said, in this case the story turned out to be accurate.

But for most Subways this would be impossible.

There is a stack of cups turned upside down at the register, you buy your drink, they hand you the cup and you go fill it yourself.

No chance to tamper with it.

So suspicion until further information comes to light is both logical and reasonable.

Unquestioning trust is not.
